We have a number of local restaurants here which seem to be owned by semi-literate country persons. The paper menus are full of amazing misspellings ("mash potatoes"; "french frys"), and I like to correct them with a pen while I wait for the waitress to take my order.

Is this rude, or is it more in the way of a public service?

Thanks!

The guy across the street is hyper-active, makes lots of noise, and seems arrogant and self-centered. Weeks ago, a neighbor (apparently anonymous) complained about his "excessive noise", and he was cited. Long story short, he thinks it's me, because I did ask him to keep it down (leaf blower at 8 a.m. on Saturday). Tonight, he accused me of spitting on his car, and said, "this is war!" . I told him that I didn't have anything to do with the spitting, nor the police report, but he has it in his head that I did. I looked at the police report, but all it said was that "a neighbor" complained. I'm thinking of moving away from this bozo, because I don't want to live in this kind of harsh atmosphere. The surrounding neighbors seem oblivious to the noise, or at least only one of them has said anything about it. Thoughts?

My husband does not like it that our daughter says "what?" when she does not hear something. She does this because it's how I say it. He wants her to say "excuse me, I didn't hear you." I think "what" is fine and "excuse me, I didn't hear you" is okay but not necessary and sort of fussy. I'm more casual. Is it rude?

(Our daughter is almost 3. She says "please", "thank you", and "I'm sorry" regularly.)

grotesque and ghastly? Specifically I'm referring to fat women in spandex, or short-shorts. Please for this how about women talking to or not to women, and the same question for men talking or not to men.

Everyone has the right to wear whatever they wish!!!! I agree!!!!
But theoritically, people want to look the best they can; and if they are looking ridiculous, is it an act of friendship to tell them?

I remember at one of my former office jobs, the owner was from Pakistan, anyway when he went #2 he wouldn't flush and also there would be no toilet paper. It was gross, but I would just flush. I figured it's just the way he was raised or something.

I never complained since it was his company and I wanted to be politically correct and open minded to his culture. I haven't run into anyone since who did the same.

What a way to end to a year…….A museum that’s really fun .Not at all a museum is not a good way what so ever to end a year .I think that going to a museum is boring no fun at all and very dull. Who wants to go to a museum and be wearied all day long? Students want to talk and socialize with each other you can do this at a dance but not a museum. Dances are more entertaining and thrilling we’ve been bored most of the time in school so why should we go to a museum is this really a celebration. The definition of celebration is to show happiness that something good or special has happened very lively, by doing such things as eating and drinking together or playing music. This defenation “said lively is going to a museum lively I mean after all that hard work in school you have to be bored again in a museum a celebration is suppose to be exciting in no way in going to a museum exciting you minus well stay in school. Plus Dances will bring in more funding to help the school. Look most everyone will show up to a dance and most dances cause to about 1 dollar to three. Sure you have to provide the Participants with items such as food and music. But will this cost more money then the amount that you take in. So the school will end up making a profit plus the students are doing what they want to all together a dance is better in comparisons to a museum. But lets see how much a money a museum will cost. You have to pay for buses the students go to the museum and the staff end up with no money at all. So even for the school a dance is better. Really their no comparison a dance is the almost perfect way to end the year you can talk to your friends about your plans for the summer and student wont have another chance to talk to their friend for a long period of time at a museum you cant even talk . As you can see there is no comparison for an end of the year celebration NONE .

I need to know something to say to somebody when something stupid happens, like "go live in a shoe" or something. Obviously, judging by my example, I have no idea what to say in such a situation. So please, post your favorite dismissive comments here so that I may learn them and become a master in the art of snappy comebacks.

for using the "C" and "W" words. I personally am outraged that white commics
are condemmed for sayin "Niger", "Niga", or "*****" (which is not offensive in nature) while black
commidians are encouraged to use the words "cracker" and "wigger, and that white poeple are
sued for using such language. Should white people not start suing black people for using such
language? Please answer both questions. Thank you.

If your neighbor asked you for a ride to work. You gave it to her. Then later that afternoon she sent her daughter over to your house, basically asking for free babysitting? She's done this before.

In class, for exams, we are having a pizza party. We have to get with a partner and eat pay $2.50 for our half of the pizza. The money was due today and yesterday I reminded her atleast 10 times to bring the money (she is always forgetful). She walks in the classroom today and I asked if she had the money and she gets an attitude with me. I was being nice and just asking and she got mean with me. I said, "well how are we going to pay if you don't have your money?" And she was careless and mean and said she didn't know. So, I said that I would pay for her today, but if she didn't bring her money tomorrow, I would take the whole pizza home with me because I paid for it. (I would suffer if I didn't pay for her) Only makes sense though, right? She got mad at me, even though I was nice and said, "OMG, I'm going to bring it tomorrow, I'm not going to forget." I ignored this annoying girl that no one likes.

I'm going to this banquet hall for my friends birthday and i'm going to look all primped up,
I don't want anyone to take my pic, for fear that they will upload it on the internet , (I'm not self-consious of my look thats not the problem)
So how can I avoid having my photo taken without seeming rude or looking that i'm 'self-consious'?

By the way, I won't ask them to 'Please Not put it on the internet', because teenagers these days post all their photos on the internet.

I'm really good friends with some people at my high school, but we never hang out after school. Is it socially acceptable for me to ask to hang out with them while they're talking about their weekend plans (in other words inviting myself) or would it be better if I asked them if they wanted to hang out straight up?
