for using the "C" and "W" words. I personally am outraged that white commics
are condemmed for sayin "Niger", "Niga", or "*****" (which is not offensive in nature) while black
commidians are encouraged to use the words "cracker" and "wigger, and that white poeple are
sued for using such language. Should white people not start suing black people for using such
language? Please answer both questions. Thank you.

Please forgive any spelling errors. Most of the time when I am on Yahoo answers I use my laptop, which does not have the same form of keyboard that I am used to, making it difficult to coherently. Thank you.

For those of you who are picky about spelling. (I checked this on my desktop and corrected most of the errors:

Well, I think, as a black woman, I'd better chime in here. I think that white people are reprimanded because the historical use of the word has been to demean and dehumanize black people. I also, however, don't condone any black person using the word either. I think it's disrespectful to our ancestors who fought hard to come out from under that word. As for black people using racially charged words against white people, I think it's despicable. I'm a firm believer of "Do unto others...". I don't want to be disrespected, so I'm not gonna disrespect others. Unfortunately, I'm in the minority of young black people. Most are going to continue using this language until they see consequences. So to answer the second question, sure go ahead and bring civil action against someone who offends you. Equal Opportunity. Unfortunately, most people don't change until you either embarrass them or attack their pockets, regardless of color.

Because there are more "whites" in this country than other "races, creeds or national origins" and so anything a white person does that might offend someone who is NOT white, is called discrimination. It's okay for others to disparage "whites" because that just whites being xenophobic. No, whites should not sue. What should happen is the left leaning media should start giving some positive air time to the non-whites who are trying to help their minority group by telling them how they are hurting themselves. Instead of only showing Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who race-bait at every opportunity, they should give some real coverage about how the black community is tearing itself down by degrading the value of a father married to a mother and raising their children together in a loving home. Not all blacks think that Christian values mean "white" values. And the upstanding blacks in the communities are often disparaged by blacks who did not "make it" in "white" society, instead of being applauded for being successful in their chosen field and contributing to society as a whole.

For the same reason that non-whites can make jokes about whites, but if a white makes jokes about non-whites, they are labled as 'racist'. Same reason Christians can be made fun of but if a Christian cracks a joke about a non-Christian, he/she is being hateful. One white man in government used the word ********* and was called down for it by blacks. ********* had NOTHING to do with a person's color. Those who got upset at him were just plain ignorant and showed it.
At work our truck driver used to come into our office and make cracks about YOU OLD RED NECKS (actually of the 4 of us, only one was from south of the Mason-Dixon Line). One day he came in and saw I was reading at lunch. He asked, "Is that some red neck book," I said no, but it's something you colored boys wouldn't understand. That was back in 96...he has NEVER used the phrase RED NECK around us again. Now if the table was turned and I walked into an office of 4 black guys and made derogatory remarks about THEM...first I'd get written up, then either 3 days or 10 days off without pay. If I did it again, I'd get fired.
Ok, I'm off my soap box.
If you've ever watched THE MIND OF MENCIA, you'll get the drift. If Carlos MENCIA were a caucasian and said what he does(he DOES hit all peoples), he'd never be on TV.

It is due to a Manipulation of the media! Its a "bad" word because it gets hype as a "bad" word. Its is just a word that has taken on the identity, of a hate and fear driven event in our short history. I feel some people within the black culture use it as a privilege due to the fact their forefathers were abused....... The Irony here lies within the fact that all their pain and suffering was in an effort to stop the derogatory use of the word. Yet it seems to be causing a larger separation.

I agree two wrongs don't make a right...But, I am having problems when the Black people constantly call each other the "N" word, and I am trying to teach my children that the "N" word is a bad word, and to never call them that..I am white. My children look at me and with their big innocence Eyes and ask...Why do they say that to each other?? I have no answer. I don't know.

Do you mean comedians? Well they say very stupid, uneducated things anyway. I think each person should avoid saying any of those words because it is bad. Many people do not put up with that, and I am talking about educated people. If you ever go to a judge who is black and say "my ni--a", you will see what he says.
I believe that people should be told not to say those words because they are offensive to another person. No one should be using them.
I wish you the best.

good question, that was exactly what i was thinking. White people are always trying to let the black people into our cultures, while black people are segregating them selves. Blacks have BET (Black Entertainment Televison), the African-American pagaent, Black scholarships, Black colleges. Then when it comes to the Oscar or Emmys the black wonder why they dont get a chance to win.

First of all, no two wrongs never made a right. Rise above it all and treat black folks the same as white folks. We are all one race, the human race with a lot of different characteristics. If you lower yourself to the level your complaining about then you become the same.

Address the problem, not the ppl who create the problem. When certain groups use the word "cracker", address it as a racist comment, as well as when certain groups use the word "ni**er", address it as a racist comment. Ignore the double standard; do not applaud one and condemn the other. They're both wrong. Ignore the double standard and address all racist comments.
Thanks.
