grotesque and ghastly? Specifically I'm referring to fat women in spandex, or short-shorts. Please for this how about women talking to or not to women, and the same question for men talking or not to men.

Everyone has the right to wear whatever they wish!!!! I agree!!!!
But theoritically, people want to look the best they can; and if they are looking ridiculous, is it an act of friendship to tell them?

This isn't for ME. I have no intention of telling a lady anything about her clothes. I'm asking about Women to women or MEN to MEN ONLY!! I don't have body armor, and can't run fast enough to personally ask such a question of a female. So, OK, enough male bashing???

If you ladies prefer to send email and bash, fine. ALL I can say is that I would welcome constructive advice if my clothing didn't fit or made me look worse than God already did! And, ladies, MY FRIENDS do.
Ms. Lake has had the only honest answer here, at least accepting that some people do make themselves look like "sausages" etc.

Perhaps the ladies enjoy seeing the other ladies look grotesque, I hope at least you advise your children!!

I know someone who is very heavy that insists on wearing those tight knit pants that make her legs look like sausages. This person is probably more than 150 lbs. overweight. I don't say a thing, since I don't think it's my place to remark on her clothing choices.

If he/she asks your honest opinion.
Generally, even with relatives or friends, unless you are the person's parent or spouse, you don't really have the right to make suggestions of this type.
But if the person asks your fashion advice, you can say that you think the person's figure might be more flattered by different cuts of clothing.

I don't think you ever have the right to tell someone their clothing looks bad. You do not know anything about their finances, their taste, or their mindset; they may not be able to afford more, or they may be perfectly happy with the way that they look. I suggest minding your own business.
