Half day at a spa. Or a gift card at her favorite store. Let your budget dictate.

A plain card. At the most a gift card. Do not give anything that is considered to have an emotional tie such as candy, flowers, or jewelry. All of those indicate a relationship or want there of.
Play it safe.
When in doubt say Happy Birthday and let her leave work a 1/2 an hour to an hour early, with pay.
Good Luck.

Im sure she wouldnt think a raise overkill. If you dont really care what she thinks about that then just buy her lunch or something. Take her somewhere to eat and have the staff bring her some unwanted embarrassing attention by clapping and singing the annoying Happy Birthday song all around the table. Act really smiley and in to it as you pull a couple paper party hats with rubber band chin straps out. Insist the two of you wear them thru out the meal. Have someone make a video with lots of close ups. Send me some pics.

For our Customer Service Week, our boss surprised us with a
1-hour massage and then had lunch catered in. He has a wonderful lady come to the office and we had the option of having a massage on a chair or on the table. It was nice that he had someone come to us rather than us having to find time in our busy schedule to drive all over town. Plus, we didn't have to lose time from work as we all got to stay on the clock.

A gift certificate to a nice restaurant.

Find something she's interested in like her favorite restaurant and get a gift certificate or does she like to pamper herself. A nice candle or if she drinks coffee or tea something along those lines.

A gift certificate is always great!! Or if you wanted to be more personal, maybe a candle or gift basket from a bakery or floral shop. And of course, a heartfelt card that expresses your thanks to her for all she does for you.

I think it would depend on your relationship with her. I gave one of my admins. something from Vicky's because I knew exactly what she likes and we were close.

Otherwise a mall gift card or a restaurant gift card if you are not close with her.
