Someone just asked a question of a personal nature, and someone else took the time to write to the person to say they are rude for asking personal questions. I thought that a place like this would be the best place to ask personal questions, because a person can choose to answer or not, and we don't know each other so no one has to worry about being judged.

Am I thinking about this incorrectly?

You are with your dream girl/guy on a first date. FIRST DATE. It's like a dream come true for you!!! So you we're trying to make a good impression. Hmm. Here's the catch. The two of you are alone in the car. The windows are rolled up. And you accidentally FARTED. And it smells like ****. Remember, there's just the two of you... and well, there's no other person to blame... lol. So what do you do??? hm... do you say "what's that smell?" or "excuse me. i farted. let's roll down the windows?" or do you just keep quiet... I REALLY WANNA KNOW!

My supervisor, asked if I was "packing on the pounds?" She is a woman and as a woman myself I just know that, that is not a question you ask a woman or anyone for that matter. Now this woman and myself are not close by any means, just co-workers, if you can even call it that. in the past she has been rude, but this is the first that it has bothered me I feel like she is attacking my self esteem. Should I say something?

I'm curious what is the "normal" way to say thank you is after an interview? The interview, both 1st and 2nd, went very well and I figured a thank you would be in order. Is it formal or professional to send a hand written thank you card OR a typed/printed letter to the hiring manager? I think the thank you card seems a bit too informal for a professional environment but others think that a hand written thank you card is acceptable. Was I wrong in printing up a personalized thank you letter instead of a thank you card?

are trying to get themselves invited to our company Christmas party. Since I am the one planning the Christmas party, my hairdresser asked me about getting invited. When I booked my hair appointment for that day, she even had me book way early in the day so she can run home to get ready for the party herself! I in no way offered an invitation or even said she could come. It is not even my decision. Neither of them are even employees anymore. I spoke to my boss about it (and felt stupid for even mentioning it, but her mom was an employee recently, but left to take care of her dying husband). My boss mentioned it to me today and we/she decided it was best not to invite them and to just leave it at that, but what do I say when I go to get my hair done. I've considered just cancelling my appointment altogether and just go somewhere else. How should I handle this?

If you found a credit card on the sidewalk, would you pick it up and use it?

Would you think less of a friend that did?

I ask this because of the yobbo crack epidemic. It's like the world is full of plumbers, but they're girls. After finishing an exam at uni, I was to sit patiently for about half an hour until they let us out and I swear, I couldn't look in any direction but straight up or straight down without seeing someones bum crack! I make a point of wearing a belt if I wear hipsters at all, just as a matter of courtesy - you know, to keep everything where it's meant to be.

My kids' father died in july - he was 42. his second wife of two years is now 32. she had the gravestone engraved with her name on it which really upset my boys (16 & 18). Just because she was his wife at the time of his death it's ok for this? It seems the odds are she will remarry and have a family of her own (they didn't have any children together) - why would she take this FAMILY PLOT (1 of 4 - his grandparents are buried there as well) for herself when she is only 32, they were only married 2 years? Am I being unreasonable thinking this is odd?

I'm still in high school (a senior) and am a pretty laid back person. But this guy keeps pushing it. In one of my classes we have assigned seats and I sit next to him. He's usually a cool guy but lately he's been crossing the line....saying things like "I want to f*ck you" and that's as polite as it gets. He's being sexual and I'm uncomfortable with it. I've just been trying to ignore him but that doesn't seem to be helping any. What would you do?

Sorry for the high school drama, but its a problem I have. Thanks for the help!

When I am at work, I don't talk about my love life like everyone else. A coworker is telling people work with that I am a virgin, even though I never said I was and she never even asked. Do you think that she was being mean? I really think that she has no business talking about my life like she knows me. Should I be mad? Not that being a virgin is bad or anything, but I just think she was being mean and nosy, and was trying to get me to talk about something I don't want to talk about.

I am a male. I have to put the seat down for my mother as a child I was trained to do this by my father who insisted upon this but I do not agree.

Men usually need it up, women always need it down... we are constantly having to (though it isn't a huge imposition) to bring it up and put it down.

I guess, what I need is someone to convince me WHY I should do this. I think that this is the same idea of cleaning out the dryer lint catcher in a community laundry room. I have the philosophy of self sufficiancy.

I check the lint catcher, its usually full so I empty it. I dry my things. Then I take my stuff out and leave if for the next chap. If I did get to the dryer with it empty, I still leave it for the next person because I usually have to do it anyway. It isn't a big deal, it takes only a few seconds at most but I suppose its the principle that I am pondering right now.. what do you think?
