My current boss use to work for this company in question. She also still has contacts with people that have said that certain excecutives have revieced severans packages and that they will be closing down at the end of the year. But this company is also holding a company christmas party at the end of the year with a talent show and they even have $1000 grand prize for the best performance. Nobody else in the company knows anything about them closing down. Should I worry my friends that work there and tell them I heard this rumor or let it be? I dont want to get them all worked up for nothing especially since both of my friends are living together and have a 2yr old and another on the way. They both depend on their jobs with this company. I'm not sure what to do. If I tell them and they both start looking for other jobs and lets say they do leave and the company never closes down then ill have this guilt on my head forever!

haven't seen in a long while has put on a HUGE amount of weight?
I recently visited with a friend whom I hadn't seen in 2-3 years. She went from about 115 llbs to 200lbs or more. I didn't say anything, but felt very weird for pretending not to notice.

I live in one of the most beautiful areas of farm land in East Tennessee, but three or four neighbors around me just let their dogs run free, bark at all hours of the day AND NIGHT, and won't do any thing about them. We are outside the city limits, so there is not a noise ordinance until 11:00pm and obviously no leash law. Does anyone know of a good pair of earmuffs? Or any suggestions on what to do next?

We are giving a company Christmas party. There will be nine employees and their dates attending. We need you to help us decide what the best gift-giving format will be. The Chinese gift giving where you can lose your gift is NOT an option.

1. Employees draw other employees' names and ONLY buy ONE gift limited at $25 for the employee's name they draw. This way only employees buy for other employees only, and the dates do not open a gift at the party.

2. Everyone (including the employees' dates) draws a name, and buys a gift limited at $10. That way everyone gets a gift from someone to open at the party.

The person who favors #1 says that since this is a company party, only the employees should receive gifts.

The person who favors number 2 says it would be rude if not everyone opens a gift and has to watch everyone else open a gift.

Once you have established a line of communication using someones name not just a sign of respect and politeness. ie. hi Jen or thanks Jen,
It proves you have read what they wrote properly and attributed their comments to that particular person.
Right or Wrong?

I recently adopted a child. I am having an adoption celebration/brunch at a local restaraunt. However Im being charged $25 per person, and want to keep the headcount down to 50. My guestlist is at 45, so if the invited guest brings a guest, I'll be going way over budget. I'm trying to find a polite way of telling everyone in the invitation that they cant bring a guest, without sound tasteless.

Take the term 'Ugly American' for instance. I've never behaved in such a manner while touring Europe, and was mistaken for a native
most of the time, even with my biracial appearance. Any non-Americans out there who care to respond? Thanks in advance.

My best friend planned a 50th birthday party for her father and let her friends and family know there were no children invited. This included my 13 month old. She did say, however, the worse case scenario and I couldn't get a babysitter, then to take my child. My chidcare arrangements failed at the last second and when I told her this, she said that it wouldn't be fair if I came to the party seeing as though no one else there would have their kids. I understood this completely, but felt slighted because of our previous conversation. I can understand a nighttime party and not inviting children, but a 12p-4p on a Sunday and no kids allowed??

I have a great barber. My haircut price is $13 and I tip him $3. Is this amount OK? He would never comment on it, but I want to make sure I am in line, but not over tipping either.

Just because i carry a large backpack, have a lighter sellotaped to my sock and wear an 'I heart Osama' T-shirt, why do people just assume that i am a muslim terrorist? I purposefully retain my beard because everybody knows that they shave them off before they attack, yet still people persist in refusing to travel with me. Self self self thats all they care about, what about me??
