I don't really see what's wrong with it. My kids always get way more than they could ever eat. My 9 year old would probably be upset if he saw me doing it, but my 2 year old couldn't eat all that candy even if I would let him. I usually only let them have one piece a day anyway - so most of it ends up going in the trash or something. So, no, I don't think there is anything wrong with it if your kids are okay with it.

Nothing wrong with it...my parents did that all the time. For one thing, your kids shouldn't be eating all that candy anyway (by the year 2020, half the kids born will get diabetes!), and you might as well just use it, since if you went out to buy more, most of the rest of it would just sit around rotting (either in your cupboard, or in your childrens' mouths).

Just don't give out candy that looks questionable, is all.

YES!!! I don't regift (because I don't want to take a chance that someone will know--how embarassing) but I always used to pick through my kids Halloween candy and re-give the stuff they didn't like. I don't see what the problem is???

You did the right thing as you had no time to run out for candy
