I have contacted the owner of the resturant and she wont do anything about it becuase shes a smoker herself. What can I do to protect my self from the harful effects of second hand smoke. Managers allow this smoking also.

Exact conversation with my neighbor-----
ME: Hi, I just wanted to say Im sorry that the pups have been
barking at you through the fence we are working on it with them they are just really busy puppies and want to play. I wanted to invite you over sunday morning for some coffee and the three of you can get aquainted. They wouldnt hurt a fly.
HER: I watch the news...I don't like those dogs....
ME: I could tell you were scared thats why I invited you over they
wont hurt you you dont have to worry about it, they just want to
play Sandra (other neigbor) gives them treats & plays with them so they think you do
to...
HER: Ill stop worrying about it when they are dead!
ME: Everyone has their own opinions, but I will keep them inside
when you are outside from now on.
Her: Like I said I won't worry anymore when they die, and if I have
anything to say about that it will be soon.

I wouldn't nescessarily say I'm too polite, because well, they're strangers! When I was young, I waved at people in the car and played "Sweet or Sour".
I'd call myself a 5 of 10.

What would you say you are on a scale of ONE to TEN??

tomorrow night I'm going to father/daughter banquet type thing at a church with my best friend and her dad. The invitation asks for semi-formal attire. I was wondering, what is semi-formal attire? does it include jeans? like, in general what are you permitted to wear? it's a candlelight dinner, and then there's a conference following. any serious answers would be much appreciated, thanks!

I recently bought an item from an e-bay seller.
I was very polite when the item didn't arrive and emailed the seller a few times, After 6 days i recieved a harrassing email.

I now have to leave feedback for this seller and plan on leaving negative. What are some strong words that would make others think twice of buying from him ? I have 78 words to work with.

I sure think so and frankly, it pisses me off when other people who are gambling next to me sit there with their eyes fixated on my machine and how I'm doing.

I just got this job (this month) in subject I am only tangentially interested in. I noticed today down the street a new store was opening and looking for help (in exactly the field I am interested in).
The thing is I have a Masters degree (actually 2) and basically most of what I am doing at the first job is retail sales (with demanding rude customers) and my boss is great and co workers are all nice but the assistant manager is the biggest ***** ever. He is constantly rolling his eyes if I ask him a question, he never says please or thank you but barks orders to me like "go get me this," he never praises anyone, etc. Also he throws books, objects around when he gets mad (which is always) which although is not really enough to hurt you is violent and I find it a very unhappy work environment (due mostly to him) Also the fact that this is a total dead end job (not my field at all) is depressing.

So can I apply for the new job? Will the new job not like the fact that I gave up?

I Don't. Like I'm gonna walk around like a douche with a hot bag-o-poo! Seriously, who's with me. My dog's turds are so little anyway. I suggest you watch where you step if you're outdoors anyway. Common sense.

Is there an appropriate term for this?

There is an older man I know, probably in his late 60's early 70's, who is a complete sexist pig! His wife, who is very nice and respectful of all people, invites me over for dinner one evening. As we were all talking about various things we've done in our lives, he said to me, "You don't need to go to school or have a career- you're a girl. You'll be well taken care of once you get married." His wife said he was just being old-fashioned. I, however, found it very offensive- not only was it sexist but also an insult to my intellect and abilities/skills. How should I handle this? I don't want to be put in a situation like that again.... please help?

I began working with a partner a year ago. We do equal amount of work, but he was established before I was in this business. Since then, I've worked hard, contributed a LOT to the business in time & effort. As part of business we hold seminars to help businesses comply with data privacy laws. There is a person in our group who often is present at meetings, seminars, etc...who is our upline. Yesterday, he made a comment that really bugs me. I put as much effort into the power point presentations, data research, preparation, etc as my partner. My partner speaks in front of the group, I haven't yet. This person came yesterday and made the comment to me"Are you going to make so-and-so give you any of the money he makes from these?" First of all---he doesn't make it--WE do. Secondly, I work as much as he does! How do I get that point across that even if I don't speak, my contribution is important too? Or am I just being too petty?

This lady from work invites me over for a dinner but when I came over it was more like a banquet...all kinds of food set up. Well I had a couple of plates of things and she wanted me to taste 5 or 6 other things that I didn't eat pI said I was full....she told me to use the vomitorium - basically a "trench" made out of tile that drains into the pipes below her house. She told me to just vomit and make room for more food. I told her no that I wasn't going to do that because that would be gluttony and then she gets all upset saying it was because I didn't want to eat her food. Now she isn't speaking to me. Should I just vomit next time?

ask for your assistance(open bathroom door..get some ice..give her a push out of her chair so she can stand up...etc) that helping her throughout the day is intefering with your numbers at work. But you really dont want to because you know you are doing the right thing.

We're early 20's and in end of college. we've been together about a year. i live w/2 roommtes but am looking for a new place closer to school. he still lives at home w/parents but will but moving out but the end of the school year (may/june 07) b/c of a job and getting a higher degree. we spend about 2-3 nights together now and see each other every day anyhow, so i think living together would be sensible. how should i go about asking him his opinion on this topic? any time better than others to bring it up?

I know them or not. The other day I went to the Doctors office and said good morning as I stepped in the door, and no one answered. The room was full of people, well I got a little pissed and repeated myself loudly, then everyone said good morning. What has happened to being polite, I was thaught that when you walk in a room a greeting its said. Why are people soooooo rude now a days
