I am a student, and always give up my seat on the train or bus for someone older than me, as this is what I was taught to do. Just wanting to know what the views of everyone else is regarding this topic...I know that on the trains and buses there are signs saying for this to happen, but everyday I see it not happening. Cheers everyone.

People are such whining morons. Why must all of you complain for things like racist comments or insulting statements? Is it going to kill you to listen to people say racist things? Is there a possibility you might stop breathing if I insult retarded people?

I've just seen the advert for a new Channel 5 show which shows five people and their 'issues'. One has 'sleep with one of your students' as his issue.
A while back I fell out with a friend who was a university lecturer who slept with a student. Even though the student was not studying anything the lecturer taught I found it a real abuse of power.
Was my anger justified?

I was numb, because I couldn't hold my breath. I just left right after him ....He did not say anything about my gas noise (not loud) I was standing around him when he was talking on the phone. I felt really embarrased.

My neighbours asked me to feed their cat and dog, and water their plants while they were away over a four day period, twice a day. They gave me $25 for the job, but my mum says I'm not to accept money for helping neigbours. I tried giving it back twice, than accepting only $5, but he said that it would have been more expensive to get someone else to water the plants, and hand the pets over to the catery.

I only make $5 an hour when I babysit, but it probably took me an hour at the most to do all the chores they set.

I have tried returning the money on previous ocassions but it just ended up back in my pocket. My mum got really mad at me, and embarrassed me infront of them.

Did I do the right thing, or was I rude? I have a book on Manners, and it said after the second time, if they still offer something you should accept it.

Help?

I am a 22 year old college student going to my first opera with my girlfriend. She has never been before at all. We are going to see Carmen performed by the Virginia Opera. I was just wondering what the dress code would be? Any suggestions from anybody who has been?

I am a waiter in NYC. I have many years of experience and myself and my co-worker have made a peculiar observation...Indians don't like ice in their water. When a party of Indians comes in, we automatically start pouring the waters with NO ICE. Please don't start telling me this is a "stereotype" or anything of that sort because it is simply true. Indians order vegetarian items and drink water with no ice. I understand not eating animal products...but what is their gripe with ice??

I have been unnattractive all my life or so I think. I have had many guys like me alot of them have been attractive.

But all of my life I have heard "god she's ugly" this and that. My question is why do some people go out of their way to humiliate me in public by saying this? Especially black people, mind you I am black myself (there are alot of beautiful black women I am just not one of them) but why are black people so rude?

Why can't some people just keep things to themselves why do they have to always vocalize things to purposely hurt someones feelings.

Case in point.

I am walking in the parking lot this girl (all by herself says loudly "she's ugly" loud enough for me to hear why can't some people just keep things to themselves.

I am really confused because I went to a plastic surgeon and he says there is nothing wrong with me that I am okay as I am and mind you good looking men have asked me out. I don't get it I'm confused?

why is it that all racially aware white groups are considered racist? for instance listen to the racist crap spewed from jesse jacksons mouth! i am white and proud of my race! we call it being racially aware, that does not mean we hate people from other backgrounds, some of you overeducated people need to re-asses your values and stop judging others for theirs!

I went to Claim Jumpers recently. Great food and atmosphere. As most of you know there is a waitress, another person who brings the dishes, and one who seats you so let's say at least 4-5 people are involved. When you give the waitress the tip, does she have to part with all the others, and is $15 a good tip on a $65 meal?

Fork on the left, knife in the middle, and spoon on the outside beside the knife, with the knife facing the spoon? Or, fork on the right, spoon on the inside left, and knife in the middle, again facing the spoon.

It's kind of an awkward situation using a bathroom and then someone else needs to use it. Usually I try to rush cause I don't want to be that weird girl who takes way too long in the bathroom. I usually just say "uuum, just a minute." There has to be something better to say. Any suggestions?

want to say "thank you" to someone in a public or formal setting they say "I/we would like to thank [name of person]?" Seems dumb to add all those words when you could just say "Thank you [name of person]". Wanting to thank isn't the same as actually saying it. Any thoughts on this, folks? Oh, yes, thank you.

Every time we get together to hang out, she wears the same shoes-and I've know her for about 2 years. And it's the same pair of shoes, they look like they've been through hell and back. They are falling apart. I feel bad, it's not like she's broke, she's Doctor (Post-Fellow). Should I take her shoe shopping?
