Separation of men and women in place of pray was the custom in the old world religions, Christians were the 1st in allowing men and women to be together in churches, but Jews and Muslims do not.

If a Muslim couple are at home ..they pray together..At the Mosque woman & men are seperate..more men pray at the Mosque than woman therefore they have larger space than woman..and woman are at the rear of the room for modesty reasons..nothing wrong with that..i think it is good..

i guess the main reason is ...if they pray together...a man's thoughts may wander and he may start thinking about the woman instead of focusing on praying to God...so its best they pray apart
