Every time we get together to hang out, she wears the same shoes-and I've know her for about 2 years. And it's the same pair of shoes, they look like they've been through hell and back. They are falling apart. I feel bad, it's not like she's broke, she's Doctor (Post-Fellow). Should I take her shoe shopping?

They cannot be that comfy, because they are high heels, with a thin heels. She does not where them to work, because you can't wear heels are a doctor especially when on rounds. She has time, we go out all the time (to the malls at that!).

What do I think? I don't think you should say anything. I am sure that she is fully aware of what her shoes look like, and she probably likes them. They may be the most cumffy shoes she has ever had. You never know. Anyways, I don't think it's your place.
If you must, arrange a luncheon at the mall or something. When you walk by the shoe store take a vocal interest in some shoes, and she will follow you in....then pick up some and say ooooh these are cute or would look great on you, or they would go great with such and such and get her to try them on. If you purchased a pair of shoes for yourself as well it would be a lot more....proper of the whole rouge.

She may just like them. As a doctor being able to wear comfy worn in shoes may be the perfect break. Maybe mention to her that you are going shoe shopping and ask if she wants to join you. If you are good friends then I don't see why you don't just ask her "Hey, what is up with the gruby shoes?"

Just say "Hey, wouldn't it be fun to go shoe shopping together? I've had this pair for ages!" And then take her shopping. Or you could buy her some new shoes for a birthday.

Don't come right out and say dang woman get some new shoes - call her to see if she would like to do a girls day and go shopping - and make sure you hit a few shoe stores- when you get there say "oh these would look good on you -here try them on" and see what happens

Sure take her shoe shopping. Maybe she doesn't realize that the shoes need replacing. Some people aren't into the shoe thing.
Hey, if nothing else maybe you'll have lunch together and enjoy a good laugh.

She's a doctor...she's probably to busy to buy new shoes, and she's on her feet a lot. Perhaps she has bad feet.
Why don't you ask her what size shoes she wears, if she asks, "why?", say that you saw some shoes that would look great on her or something.
Realistically, she's a DOCTOR, helping people. Her shoes are really not important.

First, she's a scientist. Scientists and engineers (I am an engineer) will keep out comfy shoes until ALL of the leather (or polyurethane) is worn away.
We can afford to buy new ones, but we don't want to break them in.
Don't say anything. She will ignore you if you do. And if you ask her to go shopping with you, she won't get a replacement.

Maybe she's just comfy in them. I'd imagine being a doctor she's on her feet pretty much all day so they're probably killing her. You oughtta take her to join you in a nice long pedicure and foot massage.
