Of course, if you can go to the restroom first, please do.

However, if it happens, it is NOT rude. Take it from someone who actually knows the etiquette rule, as opposed to most of the previous answerers - after all, you did ask in the "Etiquette" section!

One is assumed not to be in control of flatulence. Everyone is supposed to politely pretend that nothing happened. Anyone saying or doing anything to call attention to it, including the "culprit," is being rude. This would include saying "excuse me."

This is different from a burp, which one is assumed to be in control of, and requires an "excuse me."

I don't make the rules, but I know about them!

Hey, when you get that feeling its best to leave out the room and go to the bathroom or something. If it sneaks out of you then politely say excuse me. Everyone has had the feeling so don't be ashamed. As long as you don't make it a habit or do it at the table to be funny because after a while it will become obnoxious.

Its very rude. As the Oriental culture says it messes up the balance in the room.

VERY! This is a normal function of our bodies but if you can excuse yourself and leave the table, you should do so. If not, try to be as inconspicuous as possible.

Depends how you do it. If it's accidental, then it can't be helped. If you climb on to the table and shout "attention please", pull your pants down, bend down and let wang with a bang...that's rude ! Also rude to ask your guests to mark you out of 10

that's disrespectful. If you have to pass gas then pass it when your in a privite place or outside when your not around anyone, so other people don't have to smell it.

It's not something that you should strive to do at your grandmother's Christmas dinner. But, if it happens, look innocent and try to blame it on someone else, or the dog.
