Evidently Roberts did not want to resign from the university, but that "god insisted." (does it get any funnier than that?) "God" told him that he should resign the next day. Another religious con man and crook bites the dust. I wonder what member of the Roberts clan "god" will speak to next.....

Just wondering what peoples opinions are of being and athiest. Why should i believe in god? Why is it so tragic if from person experience from my life i have made my own decision to become a non believer? I have never had any pressure on from close people to believe in anyone or be part of a religion. I leave a very happy life as an athiest. So why can it be so bad?

A fellow R&S user just sent me an email saying that she saw my definition of "vile temptress" on the Urban Dictionary which is funny, because I had pretty much forgotten that I had submitted it.

I think all you VTs and VT lovers should go out there and submit your own definition:

How many people out there can relate to this feeling ...

Everytime there is spiritual question posed ... I hear that failiar tune in my head
"Jokers to the left of me fools to the right, here I am stuck in the middle again..."
But instead I hearI hear ...
"Bible belt to the left of me Atheist to the right ...here I am stuck in the middle again ..."

This is not a knock on those people. I respect your beleifs. This is a question to those spiritual people stuck in the middle who beliefs do not follow a doctrine or a book ...

Anyone out there... or is just me ...

Really, no bull, it is the cross that holds every thing about us together. 2000 years ago Paul wrote

For he ( Christ) holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.

I know you are thinking, blah blah balh, what an idiot, what a moron. This has nothing to do with faith. This is SCIENCE. Pure BIOLOGY. What Paul wrote back then has been found to be true today. It only took ‘science’ 2100 years to find it out. It’s called ‘laminin’ and its what hold you together. Every cell in your body is held together with laminin. Its that simple. Your skin cells, your cells that make up your brain, your organs, your flesh, all of them. Just like the ‘skin’ on a sausage link holds the sausage together, laminin holds you together. But you know what the great part of this is??? For the atheists out there who knows what’s coming now, does it just drive you crazy the way God puts his fingerprints on everything? Don’t you hate it when Science points BACK to the cross of cavalry? Oh I know you will say it is a coincidence or ‘a random chance’ but deep in side you know better. Wanna see the fingerprints of God? You might as well, you are covered with them. Billions and billions of them. From the top down, each of us is covered with the cross.

Hebrews 12:1-18
God Disciplines His Sons
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
4In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons:
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.”[a]

I am looking to buy my husband's Grandmother a devotional book or just a good Christian Book for Christmas this year. She is a devout Christian and very old-fashioned. Any suggestions?

I've known a number of developmentally delayed people in my life.

One had the reading level of a 2nd grader, but went to church religiously. She couldn't understand the Bible, but could understand the basics (e.g. the Ten Commandments), and took joy in singing hymns and was generally a very good, kind person to others.

Another could not read at all, but went to church occasionally. He was homeless at the time, but expressed a love for God and his family.

Basically, neither of these people had the ability to read the Bible at a level that many people can, let alone derive complex theories on God's intent through metaphor presented in scripture. However, they are good people, they don't go around punching people in the face, berating others, or other blatantly sinful acts, they live and are happy with their belief in God.

What of these people who love God even though they can't understand the Bible? Will they be allowed to get into heaven, or will they be blocked at the gates?

I LOVE Christmas. My mum and dad always put their decorations up on the first and I have wonderful, exciting childhood memories of this time. Is it really wrong to want this for my daughters?
Christmas is once a year and we should cherish this family time as you never know how quickly it could be taken away from you. I love seeing my daughter's faces light up when they see the decorations.

Is this really so wrong? :-S

(I don't wish to name her without permission)

And who should play CBG?

From Sheryl Pagan VT's earlier question:

Vile Temptress

A strong, smart, sassy woman who is unafraid to speak her mind and stand in the face of opposition. Can be abbreviated as "VT."

Origin: On the Religion and Spirituality section of Yahoo Answers, a troll was flaming a female "regular," calling her "Jezebel," "Vile Temptress," and "Whore of Babylon." To show their support, several other women on the site changed their name to include "Vile Temptress" or "VT" and now it is an ongoing meme. There is a band, a pseudo-religion, and a sitcom in the making. The VTs, naturally, have many followers.

"She tore that fundie to pieces. What a Vile Temptress."

OK, i have gone through the ordeal of telling my family the truth that i might be gay (female) and that went well.
Then i talked to my husband about me taking some time to myself to find myself.
basically i plan to time-out from my both relationships and spend time with myself, then from there i'll know who i want to be with.
what should be my next step in order to do this without complicating the situation any further?
they both said they would give me this time to do this and they both would wait for me at the end but they take every oppertunity to be there as much as they(he or she)can so i won't have too much time to myself... any advice would be appreciated.
