Doesn't that "prophets of old" stuff sound great? Like something out of the Hobbit.

I am sure people are inspired like that, but in today's cynical world, they are not held in global regard like they would have been in the old testament times. People trust more in computers and college degrees then in God's inspiration and instruction. Ellen G. White was an inspired prophet who died somewhere around 1920. I am not aware of a more recent globally accepted prophet off the top of my head, but there may be one.

Uh no not really,. When the bible stated fools don't believe in God it is true. Like the hobbit, ooops i mean prophet spoke about King Cyrus, you know the one in your history book in high school,
actually became true. Which was 400 yrs before King Cyrus was born. Yeah a lot of funky priest and preachers do over dramatize they here stuff from God. but nah, its fake, the bible is all people need.

Yes.

"Jesus Christ (God) is the same yesterday and today and forever". If God used Joseph, Moses, David in Old Testament to do HIS will, HE can use you and me Today, if we are faithul and obedient to HIM.

Elijah was A MAN JUST LIKE US. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain... Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

JAMES 5:17, 18.

They do ... Many people do ...

The problem is there isn't hundreds of years of obscurity to make them sound "ahead of their time"

Also people now a days are labeled as "crazy new age people" if they talk about the messages they receive.

Look up Edgar Casey.

I do alot of channeling and receive lots of messages that I keep to myself, because, lets face it, people will think I'm nuts. Just like they are thinking right now reading this response !

Edit- To Joe ... How convenient for the writers of the Bible to claim no one else will get messages .... Kind of seals your right to power ... LOL

No that is why no new additional testaments have been added to the bible. If people tried to claim half of the stuff the Hebrew God did now it would be shot down in a second.

No. The "prophets of old" were inspired by God because that is how God communicated to people back then.
Now, we have the Bible. That tells us everything we need to know to have a relationship with God.

People love the idea that 'a long long time ago, in a country far far away' that 'prophets' were receiving direct instruction from 'God', and that they wrote it down so that we could have their myths and superstitions foisted on us today.
