if there's two sides to every story, sometimes more, why do so many adhere to only one lesson person story in the bible. take the story of adam and eve for example. some might take the moral of that story to be don't trust talking snakes. i see it differently. i see the moral being, if you don't want someone to do something, don't tell them not to do it. think about it. if god had never told adam and eve not to eat of the tree of knowledge, there would be no temptation to do so. there would certainly be no sin, since even if they did eat of it, they would not be disobeying god. and satan definitely wouldn't have any desire in tempting eve to eat from it because his only goal is to deceive people into disobeying god. i must admit, i do feel a sense of irony though telling people not to take the bible so literally, as being told not to do it, they most certainly will. go figure...

I agree that the Word of God was passed down through Scripture and Oral Tradition. However, Biblically, Oral Tradition NEVER Contradicted Scripture, and vise versa. Whenever Jesus wanted to correct the Jews' tradition, he ALWAYS used Scripture, and so did his disciples. Clearly, we are not to teach ANYTHING that was not originally Taught by Jesus and his Disciples.

If Jesus and his Disciples used Scripture to Test and Correct Tradition (Oral or Written), why is that we have absolutely no problem with accepting some traditions that have absolutely no basis in scripture?

Also, why do we give more credence to the student rather than to the teacher? It seems like we accept the tradition of a church father even when there is no evidence the Apostles themselves ever accepted or taught that particular tradition.

Ludwig Ott, who's writings are used to teach Catholic priests, even admitted that the Immaculate Conception and the Perpetual Virginity of Mary is not in scripture.

other than god, what else is there. I know you'll say meeting god is all great and so, but what do you plan to do the supposed eternity you're going to be there, just stare at him and praise him forever? you're going to find your relatives, but they'll be so bewitched by god's presence that you'll end up worshipping him together, and that's all you're going to do for all eternity? please try to understand the concept of ETERNITY

what else is in heaven?

I find it easier to believe the resurrection than I do to believe the infallibility and perfect completion of the Bible, so I don;t view it as a viable witness.

I don't know much about the Knights Templar. What I do know is that they were a group of men who stood to protect the Church in the crusades. What happened that they were not trusted anymore by the Church and were named as heretics?

*The Pope recently apologized on the Church's behalf to the Templar admitting it was a huge wrong-doing.

I am putting together my Christmas letter. Each year I speak of the events that our family experienced during the year. Our family lost my Step-Father this year. I don't want to just ignore that part of the year, but want to remind all that we are to give praise to God even in times of trial and pain.

Any suggestions.....

You seem to enjoy calling Muslims things like "backward fundamentalists", but then you get responses from Christians like Jesussaves, who said: "why is thier (sic) god (small "g") so small that a teddy bear can defile him........pitiful diety" (sic)

Or like the all-loving Christian Fish:"They should be, insulting a poor teddy bear like that."

Muslims issue Jihads when their god is caricatured, but American Christians deny gay people their rights....

Muslims stone adulteresses, but American Christians (and Pro-Lifers, adding insult to injury) oppose highly potential life-saving biotechnologies that may come from Stem-Cell Research...

How different is this from a Muslim's view? Is the pot calling the kettle black?

I am only able to get on here for 1 to 2 hrs in the evening, Which is great! Only trouble is, there are about 50 Q's from the night before ( which just goes to show how popular SC's is) and I don't have time to read them all and only answer 1 or 2. No wonder I don't have many points.
Question is, should I start at the most recent and work back, or start where I left off and play catch up all the time?

Jesus gave his life....took it willingly

by definition he committed suicide......

is he in hell?
(this was an answer to another question--is it true?)

personally i believe he had no choice but to die--he was found guilty of a crime and was sentenced to death even if he would of denounced his crime they would of known he was lying and he would of been crucified regardless right along with all the other criminal that were crucified that day)

I read this article on yahoo and teacher went to jail for her students being alloud to call a teddy bear Mohammed? I don't understand why this is so horrible. Mohammed is a biblical name but it's also just a name. I don't get it.

I seems that women have it much harder than men in this life. Women have to about their husbands cheating on them, abusing them, getting them pregnant and leaving them. I know this one woman that arrived here from spain, went to college, and than got married. They had three kids, and than all of a sudden, her husband left her, and moved to canda with another woman!!! ISN'T THAT MESS UP!!?? If you go the marriage and divorce forum on yahoo answers, 90% of the people that are there have female avators! I don't get it! Why do some many men cheat!

Thanks

Since we speak so much of generalities around here, isn't it true every class of people race creed and color can be stereotyped?

Is there any one thing that binds us as so many things divide us?
I believe the only thing that binds us is a loving GOD and his guide in living the short time we really have on this planet, if it isn't then what binds us? or is it nothing?
