I am putting together my Christmas letter. Each year I speak of the events that our family experienced during the year. Our family lost my Step-Father this year. I don't want to just ignore that part of the year, but want to remind all that we are to give praise to God even in times of trial and pain.

Any suggestions.....

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

(Note: It is God's will for you to give thanks in all circumstances. It is NOT saying that all the circumstances are God's will for you.)

Actually, there are several passages that say things along those lines. It would be better for you to pick via a search, than for me to tell you the ones I like:

try searching under "suffering" and "praise, " "thanks," "trials" or something....
