Was claiming to be the king of the Jews a crime that was punishable by death? What other crime did he commit? He new he was going to be humiliated, beaten then crucified before it even happened, because his father told him it would happen. so I would say no that's not suicide.

Jesus Christ was sent to the earth by God for the purpose of becomming the only acceptable sacrifice for our sins and our sin nature. He did not commit suicide. He gave up His life willingly to God, to compensate for our sins.
Jesus is not in Hell. He is at the right hand of God and is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is alive and is the head of the church, the people who are the body of Christ, Christians.
He was blameless and sinless. He did not commit any crime. We did and we do. He died for us in our place because of the sin that we commit which causes us to be unworthy of eternal life with God. Jesus and only Jesus is worthy. He is the Lamb that was slain.
If you are going to comment on Jesus, please read the Bible because that is where you can find the truth about Him.

Joh 10:15 Even as the Father knows Me, I also know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
Joh 10:16 And I have other sheep which are not of this fold. I must also lead those, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock, one Shepherd.
Joh 10:17 For this reason My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life, that I may take it again.
Joh 10:18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down from Myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it again. I received this commandment from My Father.
Mat 26:51 And, behold, one of those with Jesus, stretching out the hand, drew his sword and struck the slave of the high priest and took off his ear.
Mat 26:52 Then Jesus said to him, Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword shall perish by a sword.
Mat 26:53 Or do you think that I am not able now to call on My Father, and He will place beside Me more than twelve legions of angels?
Mat 26:54 How then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen this way?
Jesus is the sovereign God, He had a choice. He could have simply went back to Heaven and left us in our sins. It wouldn't have diminished His deity one bit.

wait a minute --
#1) no matter what crime if any he committed that was not the issue- Jesus was a thong in the Romans side a person they could control, and that was the basic reason he was put to death.
#2) he did die for us, just like our firemen, policemen, etc- just as dewroon said- don't get carried away girl

Many, many people were crucified during christ's time. I'm still not quite sure why everyone is so caught up with him, why not proclaim every thief, beggar, and innocent man that died on the cross (there were a lot!) the son of god? Did they not give up their lives? Anyway, I don't think he necessarily comitted suicide, but even if he had, you can't go to hell if it's not there. So no, Jesus is definately not in hell any more than Santa is at the North freakin' pole!

Jesus by no means committed suicide. He offerred His life as a sacrifice for your sins and mine. He did have a choice. He could have said no at anytime and God would have taken that cup away from Him; however, Jesus said, if it was God's will to take that cup away from Him. He did not want to die no more than you want to die. However, in order to fulfill prophesy, He had to die and rise again in three days (that is why it is written that the church would be built again in three days after it fell). God has His Son sitting at His right hand, not in Hell.

Is a police officer who steps in the way of a bullet to save another person committing suicide?
Is a soldier who jumps on a grenade to save his platoon going to hell for that?
Is a fireman who gives his life rescuing children from a fire killing himself?
Of course not.

Did He kill Himself? No, He sacrificed His life for us to be with Him in heaven. If someone comes to kill your child and you tell them to take you instead, are you committing suicide? According to the definition of suicide, no. The definition is the act of killing yourself INTENTIONALLY. He did not go to the cross to just kill Himself intentionally, He went as a sacrifice to give us the hope of heaven.

When someone dies for others it is different than committing suicide. And God knows the heart of the person who committed suicide and judges them with love and mercy.
