if there's two sides to every story, sometimes more, why do so many adhere to only one lesson person story in the bible. take the story of adam and eve for example. some might take the moral of that story to be don't trust talking snakes. i see it differently. i see the moral being, if you don't want someone to do something, don't tell them not to do it. think about it. if god had never told adam and eve not to eat of the tree of knowledge, there would be no temptation to do so. there would certainly be no sin, since even if they did eat of it, they would not be disobeying god. and satan definitely wouldn't have any desire in tempting eve to eat from it because his only goal is to deceive people into disobeying god. i must admit, i do feel a sense of irony though telling people not to take the bible so literally, as being told not to do it, they most certainly will. go figure...

Interesting idea. But if you really want to see the moral that the author intended, try finishing the rest of the story. He explains exactly what it means multiple times through the rest of the book.

When you read the whole book, you get all the answers.

Because too many people of too little faith grab on to whatever in an attempt to sooth the sorrow in their souls.
