I'm not asking if you believe in it or not. But many people, even if they don't believe in it have read it.

And I do know that its the most commonly sold book worldwide. But is any other book more studied?

Oh and I read all the answers... so if you feel the need to write alot.... feel free.

Is it arrogance or naivete that causes some people to say that theirs is the one true god.
Man has invented many gods over the centuries and there has not been one shred of evidence to show that any of them exist.
Why should I believe that your god is the one true god?

It has long been, held that petroleum comes from decaying organic matter, yet is even incorrectly called 'fossil fuels'.
In the Soviet Union, scientists have created oil from non biological matter at tempurature's around 1500 degrees at the pressure of 50,000 atmospheres (the same pressure as the earth's upper mantle). They say that organic matter that appears in oil we collect, is really just contamination.
Why is this science, never presented to students in the west?
Does it not really show that science in the west is really controlled by something other than the altruistic component that we were lead to believe when we were children?

I thank anyone for their honesty. There is no such thing as a stupid question. Who would have thought that through this media people would have an opportunity to connect. Different strokes for different folks, but truly I believe that everyone who choses to click on this topic has reason for doing so. Thank you, to everyone for being honest I love you and pledge to strive to demonstrate the Grace of God in all I do here.

May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be upon you.

I don't understand why people tell you to pray when your going through such hardships? If God really cared about us then why does he allows us to become so sick and have such hardships and not help us? Why would a person want to pray to Him if one feels their being punished? Who is to say he really listens anyway.

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. 'If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, 'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.' Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, 'Ryan, you be Jesus!'

I am not just asking this question of those who follow Christ. Among others, the Sufis have made this statement, as have several poets. One wrote: "the world is to much with us", another stated that we are "distracted from distracton by distraction." While I believe its important for us to get involved in bettering life, however we can do it, I wonder how we can avoid getting tangled up the world's materialism and insanity? After all, if we permit it, it is shoved in our faces on a daily basis! Your thoughts on the subject will be appreciated.

My friend does preaching for his church all the time and goes on trips to Japan to convert people, but it wasn't till recently that they got him a new Toyota Avalon with 20 inch chrome plated rims. The car is an extravaganza to say the least. It gives him the look of being a wealthy man. In fact, every time he preaches he goes out in nice suits with shiny jewelry.

I know the churches make a lot of money in what their doing, but this all somehow seems wrong to me.

Not who is God or what is God, but what is the concept of God.

Can the concept of God exist. Is it like the concept of patriotism, freedom, and rights? Why can't it exist?

I know not EVERYBODY does this. Some people do give well thought out answers. Others try to, but only give quotes and site refernces. Many do not understand what they are referencing. I have seen both believer and non believers try and mis quote the bible to prove a point. I have seen belivers and non believers site references that have nothing to do with the question they are answering. Generally it is just a website, or book that explains their beliefs, or lack of.

So honestly, why bother answering a question if you are not going to put effort into it? Why come here? Do you think you are making a point? Or making your fellow believers look good?

For me personally, most people will not change my mind. But I still want to know what you think of something. Why else would I come here?
