Though I've apologized I think my stupidity might have completely de-reailed by relationship. What do you think?

An Apology and an explaination that is genuine is sufficient enough, if he needs space to think about the relationship, I would give him that space. Don't over do it, then you will sound desperate.

That really depends on what you said. There are things that an apology with an explanation would suffice, but there are some things that are so out of line that no apology could ever make it right. Which is it?

Simply say you are sorry and that you were out of line. Hopefully that should suffice. Everyone says things they regret. Good luck
