This question is NOT asking for your opinion about homosexuality. So if you just want to rant about immorality or sin, please spare this Christian your holier-than-thou attitude.

Whew, now that the disclaimer work is done -- here's my question.

Today's society is far more accepting of alternative lifestyles. The days of Ward & June Cleaver are long gone. I'm sure that most of us believe that children raised in a stable loving home environment have the best chance of becoming productive, well-adjusted citizens.

Now, do you believe (or have personal experiences to share) that these children in stable loving homes are negatively impacted if they live in a homosexual home versus a heterosexual home? All things being equal, what unique challenges do children raised by a gay couple or lesbian couple have that children raised by a heterosexual couple do not encounter?

I'm an atheist, but I'm wondering if those who believe in God think it is a sin to criticize anything God has ever done.

I don't think there is any question as to whether men wrote the bible or not, so even if it was under the influence of god couldn't they have gotten something wrong? Humans aren't perfect.

If you're a person who believes in God, whether of an organized religion or faith. Do you consider "Atheism" to be a threat?

Yes, there are MANY more anti-God books. MANY more out spoken Atheist. Hitches, Dawkins, Harris ect. Public schools have abolished God. Society as a whole does seem to becoming very secular. . . But I don't know if that means too much. We do live in a very consumer cultue. And I think Atheism is IN right now. Like Plastic, botox.

I know a lot of people are consider Atheism to be a threat these days, but I don't think its really all that big of a problem.

Because at the end of the day. . . WHO REALLY KNOWS ANYTHING?

The ROAMIN' Empire was quite clever.
I would even call them genuises.
Many of them used hidden messages.
Even this message might have a code.

The ROAMIN' empire had to encode messages.
Otherwise, its opponents would attack.

ROAMIN' peoples love codes.
One code they used was an acrostic.
Acrostics are a specific type of code.
Messages in acrostic form are read by reading the first letter of each line.

So who's in?

I am new to this "Answer Forum" and I have quite a few pagan and atheist friends in the "real" world, why do they have such a distaste for Christianity on this forum? There are so many religions in the world, what makes Christianity so offensive to them do you suspect?

Christian charity ............... BAD
Christian prayer ................ BAD
Love thy neighbor ...............BAD
The 10 Commandments ... BAD

I could list far more "BAD", but I just don't get what is so offensive.

I'm seeing a lot of "gangsta style" in Christianity promotional music and videos these days. Considering the gangsta lifestyle was based on drugs, cop killin, pimpin, bitches and hos, is this really a good idea? Take a look at the lyrics to this Christian rap song. WARNING - the words are explicit and not intended for children or the faint of heart.

I've been observing a conversation between Molly Mormon and Betsy Born-again... (yes, names have been changed to protect the idiot).

Betsy told Molly that she's not Christian, that she's going to hell because she hasn't accepted Jesus as her savior, and that she's going to question and basically attack Molly's belief.

Betsy has also claimed to know more about Molly's belief than Molly does.

In self defense, Molly has responded with something along the lines of, "Bring it on!"

Betsy then called Molly rude, and expressed the hope that no Mormons like Molly ever come to her door.
The thing is that I've come across the mindset Betsy displays quite often. She's not the first or only! I've heard many born-agains tell non-born agains that they (sorry, just about wrote probably the worst pun ever posted... ok, I'll write it anyway, cuz it's funny) don't have a chance in hell because they haven't accepted Jesus as their personal savior...

I just took one of those on line IQ tests. Actually I was pleasantly surprised with my results, I've always thought I was below average, especially since I've always been really bad at math (thank goodness it's not all based on math!) I just wondered if anyone else has taken one, and what you think about them?

Luke 12:57 "Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right? As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled to him on the way, or he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison. I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny."

Here's the parallel passage in Matt 5:25-26: "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny."

Jesus couldn't be teaching about hell, because you can "get out" after "you have paid the last penny."

In his memoirs of the Spanish Civil War, Arthur Koestler related an amazing story. He was taken prisoner by the facists and sentenced to death by firing squad. One night he was awakened in his cell and marched outside and lined up against the wall. The guards raised their rifles, and he heard a tremendous noise. He opened his eyes and looked around, and he was still in his cell. His bed had collapsed during the night, and his mind had invented the entire dream in the split second between the time he hit the floor and the time he opened his eyes.

Has anyone else had an experience like that?

I've been with my current partner almost two years (I'm 24). I came out to my parents almost three years ago (about a year before I met my current partner). When I first came out, they made it clear that they weren't happy about the situation and that they were basically going to treat me the same, but they didn't have any interest in meeting anyone I'm dating.

Since that time, they have slowly gotten better but still do not want to meet anyone that I'm dating. I'm guessing it's easier for them to have a gay son if they don't have to actually *see* it.

Now that my partner and I have been together for two years, I want them to at least invite him to certain things. In this situation, if my parents say no, they don't want to meet my partner, what should I do? Obviously I'm not going to ditch the boyfriend, but at the same time I can't allow my parents to continue to pretend like I'm not gay. What would you do in this situation?

They want to teach their atheist beliefs on our kids in the public school system. What kind of meatball actually believes that we evolved from a bunch of monkeys?
