I'm seeing a lot of "gangsta style" in Christianity promotional music and videos these days. Considering the gangsta lifestyle was based on drugs, cop killin, pimpin, bitches and hos, is this really a good idea? Take a look at the lyrics to this Christian rap song. WARNING - the words are explicit and not intended for children or the faint of heart.

Lots more links where that came from. These are just a couple examples.

Well, I can safely say we won't be singing those during Worship on Sunday...
Yes, it is ironic, but frankly, I don't think even non-believers would call that Christian Rap.
My sons and I have plenty of Christian rap, rock etc. on our iPods. None of it has lyrics like your first link. Baby got Book is clean and is just supposed to be funny.
Last time I checked you can find any type of "Christian" music on iTunes. Right under the GENRE of "Christian & Gospel".

No. It appears like they're the two very sloppy, otherwise they are going to tug out a gun and mug me. I have not any prefer to verify in basic terms what kind of boxers they're donning....

I'd be surprised if your first link is written by a Christian.
You can call anything anything you want, that doesn't make it so. I could call myself the King of Siam, but I'm not.
The person who wrote that can call it "christian rap," but it's not. It appears to be written by a punk band, probably making fun of "Christian" rap.
So, Christian rap, isn't for or about me, but the link you posted, isn't Christian rap. And it reminded me not to follow links I don't recognize. I'm lucky I only saw an offensive lyric, rather than got a virus.

Yes and I find it wrong. They claim they're honoring God but it doesn't sound like it. I know of a Christian rapper called T-Bone whose lyrics are actually quite positive in nature.
The "Baby Got Bible" sounds kinda funny, though. It's actually on GodTube, a Christian version of YouTube.

I don't find it all that strange. Christianity has a long history of trying to get involved in pop culture and other fads. It never works though, and ends up sounding unoriginal in the end. "Christian music" isn't really even a genre; it's just various kinds of music that happens to have Christian lyrics, and is mass-marketed towards Christians. Just more evidence that the religion thrives on mediocrity.

Christians will go the extra mile to spread God's word even if it means dressing up like a gangsta rap person to do it. Don't mind them. They are only doing what god wants them to do.
