We never give out candy, because we are always out trick or treating with our own kids. By the time we get home, it is usually about 9, and most kids in our area aren't trick or treating anymore. However, in the past we have had kids show up knocking on our door after we have gotten home, even though we have our porch light off. Isn't that the universal symbol that a house isn't giving out candy? It was when I was a kid. If the porch light wasn't on, you didn't go to that house, but it doesn't seem to stop kids. It may sound mean, but that late at night, I don't want to be bothered with trick or treaters, and the only candy we have is what my kids just got. Can we post a sign on our door telling people that we are not giving out candy or is that rude?

and blow up if you give them your opinion and it doesn't match what they have in their own minds? I mean, why ask if you don't want to hear it?
Sort of like a lot of the questions asked here.

I think for certain people, no matter what you do or how hard you work, you will not be able to reach the top in society. Like me for example, no matter what I do I'll never be able to get elected president. Most of the top CEO's have family connections. A few people can be born poor and turn into a millionaire...but in this capitalist society, there's no way that everyone can make it rich. In order for the rich to stay rich, they need to exploit the poor. Oprah is like 1 in a Billion. The rest of us are pretty much stuck in low level positions. So the American Dream is more like the American Myth right?

First and last of the 95 theses:

1 When our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, said "Repent", He called for the entire life of believers to be one of repentance.

95 And let them thus be more confident of entering heaven through many tribulations rather than through a false assurance of peace.

When I was growing up, near Chicago, right after school people would get their costumes on and start going door-to-door. I thought it was so weird at the time, and haven't really seen it since. Has anyone else seen this?

I was thinking about carving something into a pumpkin and that remains a possibility, but what are some other ideas?

The word is being used a lot more for the last year or so.
Where-as before, someone who was promiscuous or slutty, now has sex with "random" people.
Someone with mismatched clothes wears "random" clothes.
Someone who blurts out an odd or irrelevant statement, says "random" things.
I'm not saying that the word is misused. Merely used more often. Was it on a TV show or movie that I missed or what?
I do understand that 35 years ago, people were advised to perform "Random Acts of Kindness", so perhaps the word has merely been on a generational heitus, and reincarnated along with many other things from that most silly of decades - the 70s.

Sorry for the randomness of my question.
Any help or insight would be appreciated greatly.

...or is it Christmas?

I thought it was Halloween, but I just heard a Christmas song on the radio...

Is this Sandy Claws' revenge on Jack Skelington for the time he took over Christmas?

My friend was supposed to come to my house at 5. She calls me and says that she won't be able to come to my house till 7 or 7:30 because her teacher is making her do an important project that is due tomorrow. My parents are weird and they said they won't let us go out that "late." Um we're 14... I usually went to my cousins' but they're at some dance. My friends live sorta far away from me and I have no way to get to them because my dad doesn't come till 6. Then my mom won't let me go out since tomorrow is a school day -.- So what do you think I should do the rest of the day? Or if my parents let us go out.. For 3 hours?
