White pigeons are symbolize many things. Peace, love, purity are the most common ones. Some people believe it is a sign of death coming. People release white homing pigeons at funerals to symbolize the spirit being carried to heaven by the birds, and are released at weddings to symbolize long lasting love (since pigeons mate for life and are very affectionate birds).
If it was a white pigeon, it was probably someone's homing pigeon on its way home or wandering around lost.
If it was a white dove, it is helpless in the wild and will probably die within the next week.
To me, it wouldn't mean anything more than what I said above, a lost or returning bird. To you, it may actually mean something that may effect your future. What it means to you is what you choose. Everyone has their own opinions, beliefs, and ways of taking things like this.

And to the person who said only doves symbolize peace, this is completely wrong. First of all, pigeons are actually called Rock Doves and there are very small differences between pigeons and doves. Second of all, pigeons are man's oldest feathered friend and have done more important things in history than a normal little dove has done. The Rock Dove was domesticated first and was more usefull. The white pigeon is a symbol of peace and all that jazz and is an important symbol of many religions. It was the white pigeon that brought back the olive branch and the homing pigeon that not only saved thousands of lives in wars throughout history, but did many other important things as well. They were refered to as 'doves' 20 times in the bible and 10 times as 'pigeons' I believe. You can call a pigeon a dove but you can't call a dove a pigeon (which makes sense if it didn't confuse you). Pigeons are also pratically immune to all but one more recent strain of avain flu, and it is extremely rare that you'd get it from a pigeon although it still is technically possible. Just figured I'd let you know those things as well as for anyone else who doesn't know the real truth.

About a year ago, I've found a young thrush in my kitchen - I had no idea how it got there, as all the windows were closed. The bird didn't seem distressed, so I just opened the window and off it flew.
A week or so later, my then 5 year old son run into my bedroom to tell me that there was a bird in our front room.
'Not again,' I thought, then dragged myself out of bed and down the hall to the front room. This time round, it was a young magpie. It took a little while - and a phone call to RSPB (Royal Society for Protection of Birds here in UK) to get it on its way, as the bird flapped around the room a bit, and I had to throw a soft cover over its head in order to calm it down before I could take it outside.
The meaning?
First of all, nobody died.
We have since moved.
And eight months later when I did my 1st level Reiki, the symbol I was given felt like a fluttery little bird in my hands.
What strikes me is the significance you are ready to give your white pigeon. Perhaps it is time to ask yourself what would YOU like this to mean - in other words what kind of changes would YOU like to invite into YOUR life, then make them happen.

To see a pigeon, Pigeons also represent gossip or news.
White represents purity, perfection, peace, innocence, dignity, cleanliness, awareness, and new beginnings.
You may be experiencing a reawakening or have a fresh outlook on life.
Love & Blessings

the pigeon was bringing peace to the home in turmoil, it does NOT symbolize death...it was symbolic of something GOOD is about to happen.....
The pigeon is used as a messenger, to carry a message from one place to another, and therefore the symbol of the dove is a natural one to represent the messenger from above. Spiritual bliss is such a wonderful experience that if a bird or an animal were to have it, it would never return to its own kind. But it is to man's credit that after touching that point of great happiness and bliss he comes back into the world of sorrows and disappointments and delivers his message.
This quality can also be seen in the pigeon: when the pigeon is sent it goes, but it faithfully comes back to its master. The spiritual man performs this duty doubly: he reaches higher than the human plane, touches the divine plane, and brings the message from the divine to the human plane. In this way, instead of remaining on the divine plane, he returns to be among his fellowmen for their welfare, which is no small sacrifice. Besides he performs a duty to God, from whom he brings the message which he delivers to humanity. He lives as a human being, subject to love, hate, praise, and blame; he passes his life in the world of attachment and the life that binds him with a thousand ties on all sides; and yet he does not forget the place whence he has come, and he constantly and eagerly looks forward to reaching the goal for which he is bound. Therefore in both these journeys, from earth to heaven and from heaven to earth, the idea of the dove proves to be the most appropriate of all.
DONT listen to the WITCHES claiming death.....

the old myth says that spirits would come to people by either birds or butterflies. (this would include moths)
the old sign for death was a blackbird/ raven, not any member of the pigeon or dove family.
in old Mexican religions, an owl " la chucia" was believed to be a transformed witch, or the servant of one. normally a large white barn owl.
personally, i think it probably was just a bird. no supernatural message. sorry.

It means a white pigeon almost flew into your house.
Why are these sort of questions always about pigeons?

If it was a white pigeon, it means nothing. The 'white bird' that means PEACE is the 'mourning dove' ... and the bird was possibly hungry or was disoriented because of the 'light' outside and the 'darkness' in the hallway leading towards the entrance to your house.

White birds that try to fly directly to you are trying to deliver a message from the deities. Had he been able to get to you, the message may have been clearer...
White birds can be indicative of peace, but I would actually suggest that if the bird is still hanging around to go outside and follow it a while. He will probally lead you someplace where you can find peace of mind, or find somebody who can help you find that peace.
