Hey Rena...Happy Halloween to you too!! I love it that you
live in one of my favorite cities...and I live as far away as you
can go, West Coast, Big Sur....one of the last truly great
Bohemian gathering places. There's a famous place
there (there being a wilderness on the ocean with scattered
houses and spas) called Nepenthe's. Originally, it was
a house Orson Wells bought for Rita Hayworth in the 40's.
It sits right above the crashing waves and has an amazing
restaurant and huge deck jutting out. The restaurant is
very rustic with big pieces of driftwood serving as candle
holders and outside, the deck is a dance floor with twinkle
lights....the highlight is an enormous bonfire with stone
seating all around where a group of conga drummers
called The Big Sur Natives come to play on the weekends..
there are between 12 and 20 at any one time. Just wanted
to paint the picture so you can imagine how magical
Halloween is there. People really work on their costumes
all year and they're amazing and original. It pretty much
goes on until 2AM and is one of the best I've ever been
to...in fact, leaving right now in my "boney mistress of The
Black Pearl" outfit, complete with saber, dreds and beads,
skull dress, pirate belt with shark's teeth and some shrunken
"heads" (doll's heads...poor things) hanging off of it,
push up bra and teeth blacked out. Aye matey, ought ta
catch me a good one lookin' fine like this. Arrrrrrrrrrr. And
you? By the way, Happy Halloween to all the contributors in
this catagory...I love reading your answers...good bunch.
Anyone seen my parrot, Doubloon?

I am not..Do not get me wrong,I love Halloween though! At my school/college it is a big deal.I went to get my food since I am on the meal plan and they had the whole cafeteria decked out in Halloween decorations, had fresh to order caramel apples, small cupcakes that each decorates with the choice of toppings and food like enchiladas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas..Also on different parts of the campus there are various parties at sororities, fraternities, etc..I am eating caramel apples, decorating cupcakes, enjoying hot cocoa, going to a small party, having some brisket and then finishing some homework for the upcoming week..

I'm handing out treats, I love to see all the kids in their costumes. But if Halloween fell on a Friday or Saturday night, I'd love to dress up in a really fancy costume and attend one of those Halloween balls.

I hung upside down crucifixes and covered them in blood and played Black Sabbath some of the littler kids were scared, the older ones loved it and the christians found it offensive. I had a great time!!
