Do you wonder why Catholics (and Eastern Orthodox Christians) confess their sins to a priest?God had sent Jesus to forgive sins, but after his resurrection Jesus told the apostles, "‘As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained’" (John 20:21-23). This is the establishment of the Sacrament of Penance (Confession). Christ told the apostles: "As the Father has sent me, even so I send you" (John 20:21). Just as the apostles were to carry Christ’s message to the whole world, so they were to carry his forgiveness: "Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matt. 18:18).

I want to say first off that i believe that the bible is a fictional story. I wonder how anyone self respecting woman can take the story of Adam and Eve at face value.Is that to say a woman is less of a person because she was made of Adam's rib? Why would "god" have not made woman the same way?

Isaiah 40:10 says Behold, the Lord GOD shall COME with a strong hand, And His ARM shall RULE for Him (interesting); Behold, His REWARD is with Him..............

Revelation 22:12 says, "And behold, I am COMING quickly, and My REWARD is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and Last.

God's arm shall rule for Him? Revelation 19:15 says, He Himself will RULE them with a rod of iron.

Maybe when Jesus sits at the right hand, he is just sitting as the right hand of power of God Himself? Interesting!! Do research on God's right arm!! The bible says His OWN ARM brought salvation!!

I have the holy ghost and my husband does not. He says he will never get it out of anger. He does not live right often lieing and even placed his hand on the bible and got caught lying then too. Why is it some get the holy ghost and some never do?

as a christian, i feel that I must always defend what christianity is when I see an answer above that in some way might deflect the glory from the one true God, revealed in the bible.

I have seen a lot of posts from muslim people that is written in something I can not understand (not english anyway) and i'm curious if you also defend your faith as well, and if so, do you use english to make your defense.

I have found some answers that are long but well written to be worth the read, while other long answers are so difficult to discern that i just pass over them not willing to look for gold.

christianity is a relationship. it has dogma but those are based on what is written in the bible and we are assured by careful examination that it is trust worthy.

can you question your book, the Koran (how spelled on my copy) or however it is correctly spelled, and call into question every word written there in

How has our society gone so far from the beauty of love between a man and a woman, as described in the Bible; the relationship that is compared to the love that Christ has his for church: sacrificial, undying, exclusive and always seeking the best for the other.

We live in a porn culture and a culture of disposable relationships. There have been so many changes in the last 20 years. I see it, and I am only in my 30's.

How have we come so far down the road? So far away from the beauty of love between men and women?

Whenever there is a scandal involving the church ie child abuse or paedophilia,it nearly always seems to be the catholic church/clergy that are involved.

"I don't believe in Aliens because there is no mention in the bible of any other living being except on earth, and because there is no proof..."

If someone needs good proofs to believe in aliens, why does he believe in god !?

I'm expecting to be told that the bible is the proof - wich is no more acurate than the fact that pigs can fly....
