In your own opinion...when it is perfectly ok to lie?...i am wondering because when you teach your kids about Santa, you are lying to them...when you tell the old lady in church that her really ugly hat is "just stunning" on her, you are lying. I could go on with a bigger list but I will let you think of your own.
so, again i ask..When is it OK to lie

Any of you creationists study evolution at University or from literature? As an evolutionist, studying books such as 'The Selfish Gene' and 'The Extended Phenotype' by Dawkins have left me in no doubt as to their significance and realness. Can any hardline creationist provide a logical rather than theological argument for discrediting these often misinterperated books?

Just to note evolution is considered the unifying theory of all biology and to date the only unifying theory of science. The first theory of mankind that can explain an entire subject in one line. Pretty factual to my mind.

I work in a small downtown area in a women's clothing store. To the left of my store is a coffee shop, to the right, a gourmet food store, both owned by the same person. I often eat at both places, and get coffee. My husband and I get dinner from the gourmet store at least twice a week and have for about four years.

The other day I was working and began to feel hypoglycemic (I have a slight problem with this so I have to snack all the time). The food I brought for work that day was gone, so I phoned my husband and he bought me a pizza from the gourmet shop and paid with his debit card over the phone to have delivered to me. It's only about ten feet away, but I felt like passing out, so I couldn't get it myself.

The girl brought it over and acted very rudely to me, hurrying out of my store and not offering me any sort of friendly small talk.

I came to this forum thinking it would be a great place to find answers to interesting questions regarding religion, to answers others questions about the same. What I am finding however is that the majority of the questions and answers are inflammatory in nature, against those of us who believe. If you are so opposed to what we believe why do spend time on a board discussing this topic? Would you not be better served as a person spending time on a board that asks and answers questions about something you believe, or that interests you?

In addition, even if you do disagree with something that is said, why is it not possible to state that without being belligerent?

I am well-educated and have quite a bit of experience. My pastor said that I should not want and if God wants me to be trapped in my apartment doing nothing, that is his will. I think that would be a miserable life. The problem might be that I am not willing to take any job.

I'm asking all people of the Jewish faith what you believe about Jesus. (I hate the word Jew, it sounds SO hateful). I know you don't buy into his divinity, but I've always been curious as to what you think about his teachings, and other things.

I love to know things about all religions, so don't think I'm trying to be hateful. I think its sad that there are so many haters that I have to clarify that, but as long as you know that I like you, then its all good i guess!

When I was in my History class, we were given a few choices by the teacher:
a) Do nothing about it, just spend the rest of your life as a slave
b) Run away every time you get a chance and take the risk of being whipped
c) Be an 'owners pet' and snitch on anyone that plans on running away and be in the owners good books

I didn't know which one to pick...I would be crap at running for the train...I'm allergic to pain and I don't wan to be horrible to my people...

What would you do?

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." - Luke 14:26. Please do tell what "hate" means in this verse. Is this just Jesus's way of saying "love"?

What have we got? Water into wine, magic fish and bread, etc. Why didn't he do something really cool, like make the Earth spin around the sun really fast, or even some neat fireworks (like Gandolf)? It seems the Savior was a bit limited in imagination, no?

I never really thought about it. I guess I always assumed that since babies don't have the capability to contemplate such things, they'd be more agnostic.

If you agree with the statement, does that mean I qualify as an "ex-atheist"?

Looking as I already don't feel good about asking a bunch of strangers a question about my personal life as it is.. I 'd like for you guys to be gentle on me.

A little background:
I am divorced and have 2 kids. We decided to give it a second chance to see how this would work out if we started fresh. But, as I am seeing there is no freshness, if you will, because all the old garbage is hanging over our heads. Things I don't need to get into but, just know there things most people should and do solve the first time and don't let it repeat over and over again.
So, the second chance for me is over with my ex-husband. We are about to foreclose on our house and it seems, and feels like all 4 walls of my life are closing in on me.

Ok now for the question:
I want to know what the hell God is trying to tell me here. Because I am one frighted chick right now! Bad things happen to good people crap needs to stop anytime now! Because I am full and had my share. Then again, maybe I am n
