God is a general term used to describe a higher being than humans. Why do people equate it with Christianity? Jesus should be equated with Christianity, Yahweh with Judaism, Allah with Islam, etc. But God is a general term, which means that any government use of the term "God" is not promoting any single religion, it is promoting the belief in a higher being. If you responded to my other question of "Is there difference between an atheist trying to convince there is no God and Christian or other believer sharing their faith?" I would especially be interested in hearing your response to this question.

Could anyone explain to me the reason and belief behind throwing dirt onto the coffin at a funeral? It doesn't seem to be explicitly for one particular religion. It seems so very final and so very painful an action.

Law: is the strength of sin's death sting: 1Cor 15:56
Law: is the minstration of death: 2Corinthians 3:7
Law: when it is finished, brings death: James 1:15

So then is Law the Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel (known only to those who have understanding, which Solomon says is grace glory: Prov 4)?

What of the four horses in Revelation: night "mares"?

Is this why Daniel finally told shut up and seal it,
till the time of the end of the law: Christ?

Is Christ the end or the mend of law?
Mt 9:16,17 says not the mend of it.
Rom 10 & Eph 2 say the end of it.

So then why are many so-called Christ-ians
still lawing(sin-ing & death-ing) one another?

Someone please give me reason why I should or should not remain a Christian? Noah was a drunk and he went to heaven, David was all sorts of things and he went to heaven. I need not go on, in other words they were all sinners just like me. If God loves me so much why am I suffering so much? I am a good person, I love the Lord have served in ministry for 15 years and life is still so hard. Why?

God promises us He will take care of us, we will have life and have it more abundantly, but yet I have been given five years to live, what the heck is that? I have four young grandchildren and another on the way that I will never see graduate high school is the the thanks I get for being a faithful servant?

I am so sick of what I see Christians becoming, most are rude and vicious and it sickens me, Jesus was not this way. So someone give me reason to all this madness......

Okay, I know that people on here say, "The ghetto/barrio/trailer-park is not that scary." or "I'm Black/Mexican/etc, and even I won't walk through some neighborhoods."

Well, did you ever stop to think that the reason why you didn't get killed or robbed when you were there was because they assumed you were one of them, or just visiting relatives?

When I went down to Mississippi, the neighborhood was pretty safe for me, but a Black person could seriously get beaten down there. An Asian or Latino person who was walking alone would also be at risk. Do you see what I'm saying?

Who here acknowledges that there are areas that are safe for one race, but dangerous for another?

Then how was the first day measured when the sun didnt yet exist and the earth had nothing to orbit around? And where did the so called 'light' needed for day come from, heaven? If so was heaven created in genesis minus one? In my opinion, if you are capable of believing ill-logic and do so then you are trapped by MAN and not freed by god.

If you met someone and were attracted to them, started spending time with them, found out you had lots in common, they were kind, thoughtful and considerate, loving but not going to have sex with you, on dates they drank beers with you but never got drunk, never pushed you one way or the other about religious beliefs but you found out that say they were a christian and you are an atheist, or the other way around, what would you do? would you continue pursuing the relationship or cut it off? I ask this because I see a lot of hostility here among the groups and to be honest I it bothers me. In life is this something that you all feel that critical about or is it just here? Would you base the future of a relationship on what you think now or would you be open minded enough to see where it would go.

I think it's pretty much common knowledge that our US Constitution is in no way, shape or form, based on any teachings in the Holy Bible.

Now, having said that....I've heard a large number of people on here talk about wanting to throw out the US Constitution and instate the Holy Bible in it's place as the law of the land.

Since that ideology goes directly against everything America was founded on and stands for...should we consider individuals of that particular mindset UNAMERICAN???

Here is a common rendition of the quote:
“Preach the gospel. And if necessary, use words.”

If God’s general revelation were sufficient for the salvation of men, then why did He give us His special revelation?

In other words, WHY did God Himself use words?
That is, why did God provide us a Bible?

Does this seem to indicate that God Himself deemed it necessary to use words?

Why did the Word become flesh and dwell among us full of grace and truth? Why did Jesus use words?

Are words “necessary” to “preach the gospel”?

Do you think St. Francis of Assisi used words to preach the gospel?

He was making a point, and a strong point he made!

But do you think his point was that it is “OK” to just love and serve non-Christians...without even presenting the gospel of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ to them in actual words?

I say you do, because you don't want to suffer the consequences. That doesn't mean you enjoy it though.

I think many people confuse "want" with "enjoy".

Thoughts?

For example, the Christians that dont go to church. Couldnt they be seen as really being non-believers? If you do believe in God, wouldnt you make sure you made it to church every Sunday, and live your life exactly as the Bible says you should purely out of fear of going to Hell? Is it that most "Christians" dont believe and are too afraid to admit it to themselves?

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.
My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a crche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.
She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"

In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in. My Best Regards.
Honestly and respectfully,

Ben Stein

Seniors,

Do you have someone other than your children come in and help with the heavier household chores such as mopping? If so, what type of service do you use? Did you go through Social Security or Medicare to find them?

Thanking you in advance.

I have the same lady who keeps coming about every 2 months or so. I have asked her to please not bother me, but she showed up again today. I work from home and it is very disrupting; plus it's obvious that I am here or I just wouldn't answer the door. She's a nice lady, but I have no interest in reading the Watchtower magazine. She offered to make me a baby blanket (I am pregnant) today and I was like "no thanks!" I felt bad. Isn't that a little odd, though? How can I stop these people from coming?
