The Bible is a lovely book but it can not be expected explain the origins of the universe.
Literally taken, the creation story has no merit. It gives no insight to the earth's development. Most ancient cultures had creation stories. They are often quite beautiful and vividly showcase man's creativity.
It is hard to fathom that if a deity did create the universe, It would dictate the particulars to humans not advanced enough to comprehend it.

people who've faith, settle for it else pass away it. God has not forced you to have faith. The paintings of preachers is to evangelise and to not tension and that they are only obeying the commandment that they have got gained. The heaven and earth have been created in 6 literal days. The words have been ensured via asserting 'morning and night'. It needs particularly some concept to think of on each and all of the discrepancies of the Bible that have been made in between the comments right here. you may first have faith and grow to be a area of it. except you return interior, you will not understand what's on the interior. Moses replaced into not a fool to jot down that the earth replaced into made on the third day and earlier that say that the earth and heaven have been created. plenty comparable is related to the creation of solar and moon on the fourth day etc. there are suggestions for all those yet earlier which you've got faith on a God who's mild Himself and quit your all wild guessings packed with unbelief. you may not understand a God of spirits along with your smaller than a pea nut ideas.

The Bible did NOT say the earth was created in 6 days. It simply stated that in Gen. 1:1 that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The creative days did not start until AFTER the material heavens had been around for an unspecified amount of time. The first creative day did not begin until verse 3. If you will notice that in the preceding verse, the earth was already in existence.
The six creative days were stages in the preparing the earth for human and animal habitation. Those days could have been several thousands of years each.
On the first “day” light (Heb., ’ohr) evidently gradually penetrated the cloud layers still enveloping the earth and would have become visible to an earthly observer, had he been present. (Ge 1:3) On the fourth “day” things changed. The statement that “God put them in the expanse of the heavens” on that day expresses the fact that God caused the sources of light (Heb., ma·’ohr′), namely, the sun, moon, and stars, to become discernible in the expanse. Their purpose was to “make a division between the day and the night” and to “serve as signs and for seasons and for days and years.” In addition to being signs of God’s existence and majesty, by their movements such luminaries enable man to mark accurately the natural seasons, days, and years.

I can't even believe this is a discussion anymore. Genesis is an affirmation that God created the earth and everything in it. HOW IT WAS DONE IS NOT IMPORTANT!!!! We cannot possibly know. We were not there and will never be able to see into the past. We will find out someday. Until then, focus on Christ's life, teachings and sacrifice.

Verse One: The heavens and the earth were created.
Verse Two: The earth was formless, empty, and dark.
Verse Three: Then He said "Let there be light", He separated the night from the day. There was evening and morning, the first day.
Edit:
No, the day was measured from sunset to sunrise, unlike the way we measure a day now.

maybe its just how ur reading it .. maybe it was from the point of view from the surface of the earth and the sun was already there and no light was making it to the surface .. and i see nothing in the genesis account to suggest the other heavenly bodies and the solar system didnt already exist ..other than genesis 1:1 .. in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and then theres a period ... it had nothing to do with the 6 day creation from the way im reading it ..
.. i cant find the reference to the sun being created .. i find references to timings of light and darkness and amounts of light reaching the earth ..

If you really think you have gained comprehension of this concept then I am amazed. Tell me, how would one entity know every last detail concerning worlds without numbers. And how can something have neither a beginning nor an end? Its OK to realize that there are somethings that you and I will never comprehend and will never until that day comes to meet God again. Gods ways are not your ways. That really does mean something.

The Hebrew word YOM, often translated “day,” can also mean “time” or “period.” In other words, the term translated “day” in Genesis could be appropriately read as “period.” Also, the term day is used in scripture to indicate the “period wherein the labor of God is performed.” Day in this sense is usually contrasted with the night or darkness wherein the labor is ceased.

Good question, but you have to understand what exactly a ''day'' means. 2 Peter 3:8 says ''However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day''. So it says for god, one day for him is equalled to a thousand years for us. Using that principle, it toke the earth 6 days for god, or 6000 years from a humans perspective

I wish i could have been the first to answer, i could have predicted everything, when you point out a loop hole like that, its because goods day is different then our days, and the bible is the literal word of god, but not to be taken literally, except sometimes, its all just so convenient the way they can spin stuff to make it work, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, read a fuc*ing book other than your fairy tale people
