As a Christian you could be a good example of what Jesus taught. When others see that all Christians are:-
Non-Judge mental,
Treating others as they would treat themselves
Have compassion
Love they neighbor
Forgiving others
Respecting their parents
Living ALL the principles laid down by Jesus
As one great man said in the past -
Christians are so unlike their Christ.
Be LIKE your Christ and then Athiests will see that wow, maybe there is something to this Christianity because Christians are all such good people.!
Your pastor thinks prayer in school should be mandatory - does he feel that prayers by students from other religions should be allowed at the same time. The Muslim children, the Budhist children, the Jewish Children etc. etc.? If the answer to this is yes, then by all means have ALL prayers in school. The "Athiests" if they choose then, can leave the class until prayers over and then everyone will be happy.

As a Christian I prefer to share my faith with others in a gentle, non-confrontational way and I try to only share when it's appropriate. I was always taught to make a friend, be a friend and then bring a friend to Christ. I think that atheists would be more receptive to learning about Christianity in general if certain "Christians" would stop threatening them with the burning fire pits of an eternity in hell if they don't take Christ as the own person savior right here and now.
For the record, the US Constitution is a wonderful document and I don't want a religious run government nor do I wish to force others to pray or worship something they don't believe in.

You just need to leave people alone. If they don't want to be christian then they don't have to. You have the right to believe whatever you want but don't try to drag innocent bystanders in with you. I think religion is already way too involved in the government as it is. The united states is based on free will and the separation between church and state. A theocratic government would surly bring a dark and disparaging time upon the country. That's just a scary thought. Keep your religion to yourself unless someone actually asks you to share thank you very much.

Aside from making sure they know the real truth and praying for them, not too much. The Holy Spirit has to be working in their hearts. It's our job to spread the word and Jesus's job to make it work in them. Unfortunately, making the Bible our set of rules and regulations would only increase resentment against Christians. Plus we would need support in Congress to legally throw out the Constitution and since we can't do that, we are still under the laws of the nation.

Right .... sure.
Let's forget the constitution that guarantees our freedoms. Lovely.
Let's impose a theocracy, and become more like Iran. How fashionable.
Let's do away with science and critical thinking. Let's bring back the dark ages.
How rational and reasonable! We can have the "Holy American Empire". Heck, it worked so well for the Romans, right?

I think as a good Christian it is your duty to accept people for who they are regardless of their religious beliefs. Let them have their beliefs and you can have yours.
As for the second part of your two part question: prayer should not be done in the public schools. If parents wish to say prayer with their children then they have every right in the world to do so. It would not be fair to non Christians if they had to send their children to a school where they were forced to listen to Christian propaganda. That is why we call them "public" shcools. If you'd like your children to have prayer in school then send them to a christian school.

Wow. To prevent my "eternal damnation" your pastor is willing to throw out my constitutional rights to think for myself? He insists that I pray in school, even if I choose not to be a believer? And I suppose he also wants the laws in Leviticus to apply to everyone, even if any school kid can read such things and easily see the stupidity of such laws.
That's mighty Christian of your pastor, isn't it? This is just one more example of the believers who insist that their beliefs should be forced on others.

Maybe you should stop and think from our (the atheists) perspective. Maybe we like fire and lakes so we're really worry if we end up going to a lake of fire.

I'm still gonna kiss girls and think Jesus needed a straight jacket. you cant change us. People who are againt gays don't even HAVE a reason. If you had a choice between a world of color and a dull world, we're go with the one with colors. We are comfotable with who we are. You think we must always follow the book. Male + Female = Babies, therefore only males and females can be together. Gays, we dont care for children. We're happy having each other. Anyways, the bible is the sickest book you can read. Homicide, murder, rape, blood, gore, killing mothers, killing children, molesting. All that.

You may Testify and Witness... if they are receptive to that... otherwise... you/we can do nothing to bring atheists to Jesus or to make them understand The Salvation Message... we/you are not the ones who "bring"...they must come to God on their own when he makes his call to them... then... we/you need to be there to assist in the worldly matters and needs of the one God has called... but until God calls and they respond... there is nothing you can do but Testify and witness.... and that only if your approach is welcomed...
your "pastor" needs to go back to The Bible... and lots of prayer... and perhaps you need to find another pastor.... that is not the way to spread The Good News
