It's the church of the Latter Day Saints. Mormons came from Europe in the 1800's, and Brigham Young (the leader of the Mormon Trail) chose Salt Lake City to settle in when they came to America. That's why there are a lot of Mormons in Utah.

The same thing there is to do Utah if you are LDS and more, since there are clubs and and bars too. If you like getting outdoors there is anything you could possibly dream of. We have a ton of reservoirs for boating and fishing, we also have great yet inexpensive golfing all over the state, plus hiking, camping, skiing, river rafting, sailing and anything else you can think of within a 2-3 hours drive and often closer. Plus, we have all of the normal city things. Come check it out.

There are some pretty good clubs in SLC, and the surrounding areas. There are movies, skiing has been mentioned, tons of other outdoor recreation, and contrary to popular belief, there is alcohol in Utah! I live here, so I know.

It sounds like you assume that the only things to do are drink, do drugs, smoke, drink coffee, tea, and have extramarital sex. (All of which can be done in Utah I might point out).

Loads of outdoor activities.
Sporting events
cultural events
university sponsored events
movies, game centers, restaurants, plays, musicals, etc.

Utah is incredibly beautiful. There are all kinds of outdoor activities you can do, regardless of the season. Skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, snowboarding, etc. are all available. Although many Utahns aren't so jazzed about the word getting out because they would like to keep it all to themselves!
