It's easier for people to swallow.
Jesus became much more prominent as rational thinking came to the forefront. Aristotle and Plato were becoming big names.
So, the fantastic doesn't cut it anymore. The Old Testament includes stopping the world, flooding the world, and supernatural genocide. When creating stories about Jesus's miracles, they could no longer include such a large scope. People were able to travel more (thanks, Rome), so they could communicate more efficiently.
In the old days, you could have this conversation:
A: And all first-born sons were killed in Egypt.
B: Wow!
In the newer days, the conversation would be more like:
A: And all first-born sons were killed in Egypt.
B: I was born in Egypt, and I am the oldest. Your story is a lie!
So, miracles had to be smaller and more localized. You can't win converts if you make them disbelieve right away.
Compare that to today where there are very few reports of miracles. And the ones that are reported are quickly debunked due to more efficient communication.

Perhaps Jesus came to teach us about the love of God...and healing people individually was the best approach.
If you were hungry, would you rather see neat fireworks, or have some "magic fish and bread"?
If your brother had died, would you rather have Jesus raised him up again, or would have enjoyed a wild ride around the sun?
Perhaps a father whose son had been blind but now he could see would not consider the miracle that had been done "petty".
Sure, these are just a few people. But then, God is interested in each one of us as an individual.
If you want to see magic shows, go see a magician.
If you want to learn about God, Jesus is the only One Who can help you.

Miracles achieved by using Jesus by using his Father were to practice or to illustrate those alive on the prompt that he changed into certainly the son of God...back then they did not have the completed written bible as we've as we talk....when you're universal with Jesus way of speaking he used a large number of illustrations to help human beings get the point of what he changed into speaking about.....the fig tree changed into later used because the Jewish united states that confounded him ...this united states produced no fruit so it changed into shrink down.....different miracles consisting of the healings and so on....were achieved to illustrate that he's able to healing all mankind contained in the close to destiny by using the dominion of God that we pray for contained in the lords prayer....Jesus is now King of that heavenly kingdom or authorities waiting on the right hand of his Father to cleanse this earth of all wickedness and so on....Psalms 37:11....All that he did in this earth are type of a resume of what he will do on a more desirable scale ....Revelation 21:3,4

This approach uses a low view of who God is, I think raising the dead is no trivial matter. The earth does not rotate around the sun, it revolves around the sun. Jesus, before he was incarnated, is believed by many to have been God's instrument in creating the universe. The big bang is the largest single explosion in all of history. Look at the sky on a clear night and you will see the results of God's fireworks show. LOL.

Wow!To ask a question like you obviously don't know God that well. Those things might seem little In a day of this time, but if you witnessed it you would still be in amazement."Magic fish and bread"? It wasn't magic and if you know anyone who can take five loafs and 2 fish and feed five thousand you let me know. You sound like the pharisees.God is not a show off.He uses his great power when its needed, not just because.Remember god is wise.Besides, that would be to easy.Everybody would probably come to Jesus after they see him spin the earth or something. So they would be coming to him for the wrong reason's.and please believe:God is not limited. Not even in imagination.Look at us humans, the earth, and the ocean creatures. You can't get more creative then that.If you want God to show you something out of this world, then ask him to but not for the wrong reasons. But if you aren't ready for it even you think you are, you won't get it.You have to be in relationship with God before you can really experience him in supernatural ways.I think you need to get to know him and his word b/c the question shows that you really don't.But God bless.

:Which is easier to forgive sins (as a God would) or to say to someone who is crippled rise and walk? Jesus did both. How about resurrecting others including Lazarus and the daughter of Jarius or himself? Making the blind see, deaf hear, lame walk, halt whole, and knowledge about future events including his own death and resurrection. How about the greatest ones of all, atoning for mans sins and opening the doors of death to life and resurrection? Petty? Hardly.

Because if he did do all of those things then he would be showing off. All of his miracles had a point to them and resulted in the conversion of people to Christianity.

Have you forgotten bringing the dead back to life? Isn't that "cool" enough for you? Or how about healing the blind and deaf with a mere touch? Or healing paralytics? Or restoring a guy's ear that was cut off?

How about making blind people see, deaf people hear, raising at least few people from the dead, healing a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years, as well as lepers, and rising from the dead himself.
This goes well beyond petty, wouldn't you say?

he healed people from horrible diseases, raised the dead, walked on water, turned water into wine, calmed a storm with his voice, made a few loaves of bread and a few fish last for 5000 people, and countless more, you call that petty?
