in Ephesians 6:13-17, "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"

scneb + Jasmine-When the Lord saves a person, they have everyhting becasue they have God. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17). "FAITH" is a synonym for jesus Christ (Rev 19:11). A person could listen to Bible reading and teaching forever and still not be saved. Only God can "open" our spiritual ears to hear and eyes to see! Remember, man is DEAD in sins and trespasses (Ephesians 2:1). This is why the Lord constantly says, "He that ears to hear, let him hear." Only those who are born from above have ears to hear and obey the Lord's words. Sure, aperson can read thou shalt not steal and forgo stealing something. But the person is not able to "see" the truths which are hidden in God's word.

A parable is actually a story with identifiable characters who demonstrate a moral. Paul is using figurative language here more like a metaphor. Because Paul obviously wanted the Ephesian Christians to understand his point, he identifies his metaphors. The point then being that there is protection against falling to the behaviors and attitudes of the "evil day" when one stands by truth, righteous behavior, peaceful behavior, faith (trusting Christ to make the Christian able to stand admidst all the tempatation). Ultimately, and that is likely why it is the helmet protecting the head, trusting Christ for salvation in the day of judgment. The only weapon mentioned metaphorically is the Word of God. The Bible is the guide to rule the heart, mind and ultimately behavior. All of these that refer to armor certainly only are obtained through trusting Jesus Christ, not just for salvation but also for the strength to live pleasing to God the Father everyday. You correctly identify these with Jesus Christ because they are not inherently in man, not even in regenerate man. (cf Rom 7:13-25)

Well, I can see how you could come to that conclusion. After all, Jesus is the Word.

Truth...the truth shall set you free
Righteousness...turning away from evil, being holy
Faith...you can't please Him without it
Salvation...He died so we would be grafted in
Sword...fighting the enemy with the Word

It's all Biblical thus it's all Jesus Christ as he is the living Word. It's actions in our daily lives that we must put on the armor, submit ourselves to Christ, and heed his Holy Spirit.

Ohhh fantastic scripture. Thanks for the question

It is emblematic, the armour of God serves as a visible symbol of the invisible articles of our warfare.

By illustrating our protection against our spiritual enemy in the world, we are informed that we are indeed in a battle in this life, and we are given knowledge that we need in order to stand our ground.

That works. However, it has to do with our action. Reading the Word, obtaining salvation, exercising faith, etc.
