Seems the majority of the questions are jokes, rude comments and people just wanting to mock religion. Rarely do you see many serious questions. Maybe Yahoo! should get rid of this category?

The brain cannot discern its own functioning. (For example, try to watch your brain decide when to inhale & exhale.)

However, humans perceive themselves behaving, as if from an external self.

Neurologists have hypothesized this perceiving self ("soul") as a fictional creation of the brain itself, and it has been shown to disappear when the brain is damaged and people no longer see themselves AS themselves.

If evidence continues to build for such a hypothesis, thereby explaining via natural phenomena why we perceive our "self" as separate from the body, what impact would this have on the religious discourses on the "soul?"

The idea I have come up with is called Mission: Graduate.
I am trying to come up with a social program that would appeal to prospective funders. Also, in my area there isn't anything like this. This is for my last class before I can graduate with an associates degree. So what I am asking is do you feel this is a good idea for a social program?

This was an answer I gave to another questioner about what I'd write about God if I could. This is a true story. I know nothing of cars. I only know what the mechanic told me, and the look on his face. The engine belt had cracked. My car should not have gone any further. But it went for 20 miles and stopped right in front of the hospital door where I needed to be. What do you think of it?

"I'd write about my son and things that happened when he was hospitalized at 3 weeks of age for a week. He was born with Infantile Spasms. 80% of children born with this are mentally disabled by the time they are 1, 10% have problems, and the last 10% completely outgrow it. That last 10% had a problem that caused it and took medication to cure it. My son had no cause. There was no reason after all of the testing they did on him for him to have had this. Just a freak occurence. But he completely outgrew it and is 1 1/2 now.
