People need a God because they need to believe in something. Yes we can do without him, athiests etc do just fine. No he dosnt help anyone because he dosnt exist!

If 'God' helps us, then where has he been when all the natural disasters around the world have killed thousands of people, why isnt he 'helping' with the terrorism we all are subjected to? No, young people are murdered, raped etc every single day, where is their God then?

Humans are an arrogant species. They also are a lonely one.

There are intelligent animals on Earth but not really any that can communicate with us.

There are 2 ways to look at the belief in God.

1 / There IS a God and some lucky people have personal experience of Him. God created the void for the world to 'be'. He also created the Firmament and Fundament. As well as the Flora and Fauna. In other words, everything there was, is and shall ever be.

2 / There is NO God and everything that has developed from the tiniest amoeba to the complexities of the planets entire ecosystem is down to random chance that happened to blossom into life. The concept of God came from developing humanity, who saw a supernatural reason for everything. They simply wanted to believe that life wasn't random but part of a Divine Plan that would benefit them in the end.

I reckon some people need a God so they have someone to blame. If God created everything He is ultimately to blame.

Most people could do without Him as he hasn't exactly been around the place much lately. But the BELIEF and FAITH is actually what keeps some people going from day-to-day.

My opinion is that there is no God and therefore a non existent deity cannot help or hinder us in any way.

Every known culture in recorded history (literally EVERY single one) has had some form of religion and some verion of a god or gods. I don't mean most cultures, I literally mean every single one. From the tribes of South America who worshipped the sun to the Greeks to the ancient Asian cultures... every one has some form of religion. Since every cultiure has some form of religion, people must feel some need to have a god, even if they do not believe in the God that I do.

Can we do without him/her/them? No. I have heard of "athiests" who procliam that God is evil and religion is nonsense, but here is the flaw in this system... Atheism is the belief that there is NO GOD at all (and never has been and never will be). Since most "athiests" proclaim that God is evil or that God is irrelevant in today's society, they are therefore ackowledging the existence of a god. Therefore, one can not live without God. To procvalim that any higher power exists is to ackowledge a god is some form.

Does God help us? I think yes. My parents were both told that they were infertile. They had five children. I was supposed to be blind 25 years ago, according to modern medical science, yet I am not blind. In fact, after prayer, my eyes cleared up completely, without even any scar tissue. I could give other examples, but my purpose here is to answer a question rather than prach, so I will not.

So, to sum it up: Yes, No, Yes.

If there were no God I would have to create Him. Author of quote unknown. We need a God. We are mere flawed humans in need of guidance and rules to live by. People who think they can do it on their own are misguided. God helps me get through every day. I can't imagine not having him to talk to and trust in. Everything Jesus stood for was good and noble. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and see for yourself why I am so in love w/ Jesus. I aspire to be more like him. He is love.

Love is patient; love is kind

and envies no one.

Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;

never selfish, not quick to take offense.

There is nothing love cannot face;

there is no limit to its faith,

its hope, and endurance.

In a word, there are three things

that last forever: faith, hope, and love;

but the greatest of them all is love.

He(God) has created us to have a relationship with Him. God(Yahweh) longs for us as a father longs for his baby; child, son/ daughter. Think of it like this, imagine the person you love 'so' much, now think about how you would feel if that person refused to speak to you and ignored you, didn't express any love to you, every day of there life, how would you feel? How do you feel now? That how God feels when we don't acknowledge Him, and want to engage in a relationship with Him. With God we will have and share a loving relationship with a Father, and intimate Friend that will never hurt us our fail us in any way!! All He asks is for you to accept Him, and confess Him in your life and He will answer every question you will ever have, and never grow tired of talking with you and loving you unconditionally.....

Who are you going to call on when you are going through the most devastating event in your life thus far? Is there any human alive that can help you with all of your needs? Is there any one person on this earth today who can personally assure you that when you die, it won't be cast into hell for eternity?
You can do without him, but why would you want too? You will not experience all of the blessings, grace, mercy, love, etc. from anyone else but God.
John 3: 16,17: For God so loved the world that he gave his his one and only Son that whosoever should believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

God is a concept. As a concept some people seem to need him (as if a concept can have a gender!) We can most definitely do without that concept, we can do without any particular concept. Concepts can help us only if we realize and treat them as concepts. When you treat a concept like its a real physical entity it can seriously hurt you.
