Wow it looks like around 76.5 % of Americans in The United States reported being of Christian faith. Sounds like a majority to me.
Evidently they consider being an Atheist or Agnostic a religion because it is not listed. However the graph that is listed above the one that I took this information from does show a slow growth in the agnostic and atheist base, which is not surprising with the push to get God out of our government. Still they have a long way to go to become the majority.
Please look at the link posted the graph from which this taken is at the bottom of the site. The numbers are a bit jumbled with the cut and paste effort, but you are able to get a general idea from the percentages.

There is no way to tell that, some people confuse Christians with Christianity. Lots of people say they are Christian but do they really live like a Christian. The Bible says, "many will be called, but few will be chosen."

Depends on your definition. Most Americans, except the few Jews and Muslims etc., follow some Christian customs and traditions. But surveys show that about 50% of Americans do not believe in the kind of god that Christian religion teaches (and are in effect atheists, even though almost all reject the label, which has become a dirty word here).

Five.
Their names are:
Steven Jones, Plano TX
Rev. Donald Washington, San Luis Obispo CA
Jennifer Wolfe, Sparta NJ
Malcolm Milton, Columbus OH
Michael Carlin, Garwood ID
Everyone else in America claims that they're Christian, but they really aren't.

Some will try to argue that it's 80% of the population, but that is ludicrous. If those people were tested to see what they think makes them a Christian, by the Bible about 75% of them would fail the test.

too many i think, but on the other hand ia'm not trying to be too negative about this ; but most of them sure don't acted like it. and this is happenig all over the world not in the united, states alone. if we say that we are christians we need to do our part and be more caring and lovable towards man kind. take care -- be bless!!!

True Christians? Not a single one.
They're all in Tibet, eating rice and chanting in the snow.
Buddhists, those are the true Christians.
Shiver me....! ...nah, I won't fall for that rubbish.
EDIT FOR WUDBISER: Although it's easy to choose to be a Christian in the US, it is quite hard to choose to be an orthodox Muslim and try to board a plane or not being racially profiled by the very government.....so much for "land of the free".

According to the recent pools 65 percent believe in Christ. Only 35 percent believe in His Second Coming. And 45 percent believe in the fact that the Rapture is a real event that will one day happen!WOW! How the numbers drop. Gives you wonder and time to think we are truly in the last days.

There is the percentage who claim to be christian then there is the percentage who walk the walk and not just talk the talk.
The former is a large percentage; the latter is far less.
