We enjoy, in this country, a freedom to practice whatever religion we choose. We also enjoy the freedom to practice no religion at all. This idea that’s been circulating lately of the U.S. being a “Christian Nation” is a myth, a complete fabrication.

This country was founded on the principles of liberty. Necessary to these principles is a secular government, one that allows for the practice of religion, but does not endorse any particular religion of its own. It’s true there were a number of Christians among our founding fathers. There were also a number of Agnostics, Deists, and Atheists as well. This country was not founded upon the Bible, it was founded upon the Constitution of the United States of America, within which lies a distinction between the affairs of church and state.

I know, God wrote the bible, but he was more like a Muse and used human beings as his pen. So the question is who actually and physically wrote the bible?

What scriptures were added with the discovery of the dead sea scrolls?

Many say its not relevant, but why? What do you think the Bible's content is all about? Even if you don't believe in God please explain. Have you read it for yourself? Would you consider reading it? If not why not?

Christianity regards faith as a valid basis of spiritual knowledge and accept as true many beliefs which aren't verified or verifiable by science. Shouldn't religion rely upon their worshiper knowlege and their intelligence to discover the fundamental truth of life.

We human beings don't even know our own minds. We do not know ourselves at all. We think we are conscious, but we are unaware. How can we ever know god without know who we really are? God is also is super being he is thrown out of reach. How can one understand god, or emulate one?

Hi there. I have recently started going out with an INdian guy (from India). This guy is so religious and every day they do prayers, or Pooja. They do this one really strange prayer and frankly I have a hard time believing they are serious. Surely they must be joking! But nopes, for the past several years we have been dating they do the same thing every day.

The mother cooks some traditional foods and then she scrapes the whole thing into the toilet. Prays to some Shiva god, and claims it to be an offering! now I have seen people pray to their gods or idols, and even leave fruits in the temple... but NEVER had I observed food being flushed down the toilet!

We moved in together last fall, and now the "offerings" are getting ever more elaborate, to the point where he insists that I cook for hours every day only to flush it! Now he's asked for my hand in marriage, and I am willing, in all other areas he is perfect. But I can't handle all this flushing of food! Not to mention the plumbin

For me, it depends on the context. If we're at the bowling alley, my daughter will call me by my first name. She says if she calls out, "Mom," ten women will answer. Otherwise, it's "Mom" and sometimes "God, Mother!" My stepdaughter calls me
Mum if she feels endearing, or by my first name if she is being businesslike. My son has never called me anything but "Mom." (To my face.)

strike you as some kind of double standard, and do really think God has a double standard among mankind or would His Law be universal? Isn't there something wrong with this?

Corrie Ten Boom?
http://www.heroesofhistory.com/page59.html

She struggled with her faith in her "flesh and in her feelings" but she remained firm in her faith. She was delivered from death and she has an amazing testimony. Maybe Mother Theresa would have struggled less if she was free to just trust God and not have to concern herself with the churches wishes all the time? Just a thought. Please check out Corrie Ten Boom's testimony if you really want to know some truth about God and his heroes.

There are a few differing beliefs about the fallen Angels in Genesis, and the Nephilim, and giants, etc. How do you feel about the corruption of the line of Christ, and those people in the seedline of Cain, following Satan, and trying to get rid of Christ's seedline?

When church folks say their sins are washed by the blood of Jesus, why do they omit mention of his flesh?

And how does his flesh cleanse their sins?

I see that most if not all of the faithful people on here genuinely and sincerely want to help you, though be it by ineffective means sometimes. Can any of you say the same?Do you want to help them? Do you want to turn them away from God? Do you think anyone that has gone to all the trouble of finding God would turn their back on Him? If you're not here to help then why be here at all,to hinder? Its good to seek though by all means stick around.Ye may just find.

"when the son of man (Jesus pbuh referring to himself) shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye (the disciples) also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel" (Matthew 19: 28).
Only 12 tribes of Israel?
As Bible tells us that Jesus was sent for the people of Israel, though I know people would say that He claimed that I m the way to Father, and Salvation. But He was only talking to the people o Israel. He never said that I m the way to salvation for the whole of humanity. So I wonder what Christian faces be like If Jesus in his 2nd comming says this to the christians other than those of the Israel.

Reff: Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
(Mathew 7:22-23)
