We shouldn't group them altogether. We don't like it when they group us all together with the bad Christians. I have a few good atheist friends on here. They're not here to hurt anyone. I think they have a right to express their views without us getting defensive thinking that they are trying to change us. They, as we, have legitimate questions they want to ask us, legitimate points they want to make. We shouldn't be so weak in our faith that we see that as an attack on our faith. Yes, some mock and I'm not talking about those people. I think this forum is great because of the diversity on here. I would never be able to question a Muslim or an atheist or a wiccan about what they believe if I saw them on the street or worked with them. But it's different here because that's why we all come here. Hope this helps you not to get so offended by them.
Your Christian sister.

"Do you think anyone that has gone to all the trouble of finding God would turn their back on Him? "
I did.
It took years to decide that what I had found in the Christian faith was not what Christian doctrine said it was.
And it wasn't a light decision.
But it was a genuine one.
Why shouldn't that point of view be here as well as any other?
That might represent a hindrance from your point of view, but that's just your point of view. Valid as such, but not a solid certain truth.

It's not our responsibility to worry about the "faithful". They would just as soon turn us from our beliefs. We just share what we believe and they can listen or toss it. It's no loss to us. We have no quotas or extra benefits in heaven for it because we don't believe. I think I WILL stick around. I like it here. Who else will answer all the questions to atheists if I left. This isn't the Christian board, it's the Religion & Spirituality board and all people's views are welcome here. If you don't like it, don't read the atheists answers or leave.

I would like to have real answers to some of my questions, but I'm beginning to see that they can't answer these questions-at least not to my level of understanding. I would like them to be able to cleary explain why they believe what they do, and to help clear up the contradictions and discrepencies I see if their dogma. So, yes, I think I am helping. I'm sure they don't see it that way.
And I don't think a number of the "faithful" truly and sincerely want to help me. I think they would like to use me to further their arrogant and condescending beliefs that they are somehow superior to the rest of humankind.

"I see that most if not all of the faithful people on here genuinely and sincerely want to help you,"
By all means stick around. Yon scales may fall from thine eyes.

Absolutely not.
I want the 'faithful' to stop their unwelcome intrusions into my life through politics, door to door nonsense and promotion of extreme and intolerant behaviour towards other humans.
That is why I am here.
I do not want your help.

A very few of them are here just to make fun of us and mock us. It is their only pleasure in life.
Let them have at it, for at least then they are not hurting people physically in real life.
