Why did "god" save Abraham's SON, but allow the daughter in Judges chapter 11 to be sacrificed?

We know that the Christian God was "pleased" with blood offerings and needed blood to wash sins...the blood of christ.
But why is it the christian god wanted the blood of the girl in Judges? Does this seem like something a "perfect" God would want?

Some people have told me that churches provide universities, schools and institutions of knowledge out of their tax-free earnings, and furthermore that the American people are getting the better end of the deal:

Is it a positive benefit in a secular society for churches to run educational institutions (which, you had better believe, they see benefits to their own future membership in doing)? Are their results SO much better than secular providers that taxpayers ought to subsidise their worship halls and their ministers' salaries as well, as part of the arrangement?

Leading the way in finding non-violent solutions to conflicts?

Is it just me or is the new testament of the Bible (You know, the new covenant and Jesus. The bit relevant to Christians) strictly against violence?

Yet the USA, with it's majority of Christians, contributes 47% of the world's total military expenditure (which is around $1 trillion). As I type this the USA is involved in an armed conflict in Iraq, which seems to be unsuccessful.

To me, this doesn't sound like the typical behaviour of a majorly Christian nation. Surely that money would be better spent on feeding the homeless, schools, ending world famine or countless other causes, which to me, sound more consistant with the teachings in the Bible.

I know that the USA is not officially a Christian nation, but surely the huge majority of Christians, and the Christian leader could have a lot of influence in reducing the military and in posing opposition to armed conflicts.

So could someone please explain this to me?

Anyone who organises a drama group knows one problem is the much greater number of females than males.
What is more, if one asks 'What is the most feminine job or role'? The answer is very often 'actress'. To the question 'Is the most masculine role "actor"?' you get hoots of laughter and comments like 'Half of them are gay!'
Why is this?

If so, why? Does being happy or somebody else being happy disturb you so much? What happened to you as a child that has caused this hatred to overtake you?

How does this make you feel?

"Volume 3, Book 43, Number 637:
Narrated 'Aisha:

The Prophet said, "The most hated person in the sight of Allah is the most quarrelsome person."

Volume 3, Book 43, Number 639:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr:

The Prophet said, "Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner." (See Hadith No. 33 Vol. 1)"

I forget the poster's handle, but a while back, a YA regular emailed me saying that she would pray that I would "find god", after I mentioned that I was totally open to the idea, and would accept even the smallest signal that god was real, and was "reaching out" to me.

That signal never came. You don't have to believe this, but I was, in fact, totally open to the idea. My heart was not hardened. I was, once again, as I have done in the past, actively seeking "god".

Nothing happened, just as nothing happened back when I "lost my faith" 20 years ago.

My question to Christians is, if you truly believe that I am being honest here... how do you figure, even with other Christians praying for it... that "god" didn't find his way to me?

I already know the answer. But I'm curious as to what sort of theories you Christian folks might have...

Perhaps someone can tell my why in a civilized western country the population of the USA still needs to carry guns. It is not as if they don't have a police force. They do and it is not as if they are still living in the days of the wild west. Surely more guns create more killings. After all apart from a few tragedies in the UK we do not have mass killings like at Virginia Tech, why is it so in the USA?

This kid I know did. He said it was easier to not believe in God because then he won't have to go to church, read the Bible or participate in any of the religious activities.

Was Jesus a rabble rouser who hated and hates the greed of his church?

I witness ministers, preachers, and other clergy living in big houses, with large families, driving Cadillacs and SUVs while making poor people who live in trailer parks pay tithing or feel guilty for not contributing.

I witness monstrous expenditures of cash by church leaders to build cathedrals, and yet
Jesus did not speak of Churches as being buildings. He said that a church was two or more people speaking about him. Jesus spend most of his time outside of buildings preaching. He preached in what believers should really consider holy ground--nature. Buildings are man made constructs, so why are they supposed to be considered holier than natural surroundings made more directly by the Creator?

Churches that have cushioned seats also tell me that the parishioners care more about their comfort than about their beliefs. They probably would not attend if it were uncomfortable.

How can we justify in a secular society allowing a group to own properties and investments for private benefit, without paying their fair share for the public services needed to support them?

Did religious groups ever perform a public function that justified them being subsidised by the state?

How do religious people feel about their organisation being registered, licenced and financially supported by the power of this world?

When you hear " White power" or "Black power" or stuff like that, it always amazes me because that doesn't make any sense. It's like saying " Tall power" or "Medium Weight power"...you didn't contribute anything, had no say or choice in the matter.
Now race and culture is different. If you're Irish, Italian, Brazilian or Zimbabwean, you can be proud of the accomplishments or achievements of your family, ancestors and history. That's understandable and you can also argue that you're contributing.
I can understand African Americans though because I define them more of a culture than a race. I mean, after all, they don't know where they came from but their history is similar once they were in the US. And there's usually a big cultural difference between an African American and an African even though they're all black.

As many JWs will already know, I asked a simular question earlier (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070831113723AA8vFDd&r=w).

This is a follow up question. Really, it's probably the next most obvious question....that if internet witnessing is good (which I feel it is), it should also be fruitfull?

Thanks again for all the informative feedback you gave me before!
