I frequent various coffee shops in my area and will use their hot spots to do remote work. I always buy a cup of coffee and sit down, but how long is too long to take up a seat? I don't want to seem like I am loitering!

I think I got better morality from Aesop's Fables than the bible.

Or do you know anyone who is in any way, shape, or form? What do they do? And what is your take on the following?

"Volume 3, Book 43, Number 624:
Narrated Anas:

Allah's Apostle said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah's Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet said, "By preventing him from oppressing others.""

As a recently converted atheist, I harbor no ill will to those who believe that Christ existed and is their savior, however I am chagrined by those "Christians" who feel saved because they know Christ but seem not to follow the teachings or live by the morals or even really know the history of Christianity or the stories of the Bible.

I would rather follow the teachings of Aesop's fables than believe that the stories are literally true. The same with Jesus. Atheists need not necessarily disagree with the Bible's expounded morality, they simply do not believe the facts of the cute stories (known as parables, fables, myths, legends, or tall tales). I can believe in moral correctness without believing in the medium by which the moral is sent.

You might argue that without an authority like God to enforce morality, what will keep people in line? On Earth, we enforce morality on each other. Therefore the authority of God is an extra measure of control to reach those who fear death.

without offending them (at least not coming across as that way)? He is very obese and doesn't bathe regularly. I know it's probably difficult for him to bathe properly due to his size and he is a bit slow. Other people call him names behind his back and even those who are kind to him don't want him in their car and such due to the odor. I think if he cleaned up the kind ones would bother with him more.

I'm asking this question in this category since it's such a hot topic "spot". (Just thought I'd explain myself before someone asks.... Although I will probably ask the same question in another category.)

If you've learned something, do you mind sharing? I'm just a curious cat. ☺

Thanks for your answers. ♥

I am sick of heterosexuals forcing their lifestyle on me. Everywhere you look there they are holding hands kissing in public it is disgusting. I can not enjoy a movie or TV show without seeing a disgusting heterosexual relationship. God when will they stop with the straight agenda?

Why would you want to say or do hurtful things to Jesus? Theres a lot of crap being said about Christ here and it disgusts me. Talking about spitting on Jesus because he ruined the world or I dont believe for whatever reason cause my life sucks and Im just gonna blame God for my own actions. Just to let you non-believers know, the reason your life sucks is because you make it suck, not God. The reason why the world is what is today, is because of how evil man is. Instead of using technology against eachother we should be using it for peace. So instead of blaming God/Christ, maybe you should blame yourself for the outcome of your life instead of a "fictional" person that you claim "insnt real". Im talking to you atheists and non-believers. Just thought Id share my view on your God/Jesus bashing thats been going on here recently.

google your religion, as I know very little about it.

Even I, a non-believer in all religions, thought your beliefs were very odd.... don't you folks see it too?

It's a bit way out there. Aliens coming to earth to mate with humans, planet Kolob, magical undergarments....

I'm not bashing, I'm just approaching this with a religion-free agenda and mindset.

Do you folks truly believe in your religion?? Why??

Note to catholics and the other religions: Don't gloat!!... your beliefs are no better!

things like

"If the "BIG BANG" theory were true, Imagine, If you blew up a brick would it turn to groceries?"

I advise everyone who doesnt know for sure on this forum go and research evolution and the big bang. right now. because so many of you make it clear that you have basically no clue what they are.

sorry if this wasnt a question... it just getting on my nerves tonight :)

You are standing in your kitchen. Imagine the time of day, the color of the countertops, the appliances, the cupboards. You hear the hum of the refrigerator. You notice a large, plump, juicy orange lying on the cutting board. You pick it up and feel its weight. You feel the texture of its dimpled, glossy skin. With a sharp knife, you carefully cut a large slice.

As you cut into the orange you notice the rich, liquidy, fragrant juice trickle onto the counter top. You see the bright whiteness of the pulp in contrast with the orange flesh. You see the small drops of orange juice forming on the cut surface. Now imagine lifting this dripping slice of orange to your mouth, and smelling its sweet, fresh scent. Your mouth begins to water as you slowly bite into the orange. It releases a flood of sweet tangy juice into your mouth.

If you started salivating star this question.

So, I'm not complaining. I know it's just habit/custom for people to say that, and there are plenty of situations where I respond to things with "I"m sorry." too.
But my mom died not too long ago, and that seems to be the one thing people say that absolutely drives me insane...along with "Are you okay?" but that's another story.
I just never know how I'm supposed to respond.
I usually just say "Thank you" and give an awkward half smile or "Thanks, I appreciate it."
But is that an inappropriate response?
I know a lot of people respond with "It's okay"...but that would be lying, and I don't really feel like that's an appropriate way for me to respond to such a thing either.
And it just seems to get so old. I've heard that phrase more times in the past 2 months than I have in the 18 years I've been on this earth. I mean how else do you respond to that?
