perhaps technological, not too sure on social though - look at the amount of broken families, abuse, crime, etc. And I do believe that their are more religious organisations committed to help in areas of social breakdown than the secular organisations!

I do agree that the research on diseases, medical conditions, etc has advanced greatly - but then, again, the moral issues on scientific/medical research (ie stem cell, cloning) seem to indicate that perhaps the advancement in technology causes a lot of division in our society.

Guess it depends on what people believe is more important to them as to how they view the so-called 'advancement' in our society.

Not necessarily so. The Greeks were very religious, and not all those who believe in divinity are closed to the wonders that science finds for us.

The originator of the precursor of the "Big Bang" theory was a Catholic priest.

When the Pope at that time said the Priest's theory of the "Primordial Atom" was proof that God created the Universe, the priest wrote and ask the Pope to stop.

He said that his scientific observation and conclusions had nothing to do with faith.

This is an easy one. If the world gets too hot, we've proven that we can survive it because the "Cradles of Civilization" were in hot, dry areas. If the world gets cold, then we've already proven that we can withstand ice ages, and that's without any "high" technology. If the world gets overpopulated, it will, out of necessity, balance itself out. I don't think we need to worry about surviving the next 100 years. The real question is how to we keep the next 100 years from becoming the next Dark Age.

In the last 75 years as you say man has made incredible advances. If you will read your Bible you will see that all of this is fulfilling phophecy. In revelations it talks about two witnesses on the street, it says the whole world will see them, when I was born people like you said that would be impossible and that proves the bible is wrong, well guess what, those people are now singing a different tune, we see news all over the world almost instantly. The bible is right on time, In the book of Daniel, read the last chapter, it says in the last days knowledge shall be increased, people will run to and fro, wow prophesy be fulfilled as we speak. I suggest you get ready, Christ is coming, Jesus is Lord, the Bible says he died on a cross for our sins two thousand years ago and when he left, check the beginning of the book of Acts, He said he would return someday and get his church. As in the days of Noah so shall the coming of the son of man be, In Noahs day the earth was filled with violence, what do we have now. In the book of Matthew chapter 24, it talks about when the Gospel of Jesus is preached around the world then the end would come. Tv go around the world today, are you ready to meet Jesus, do you believe he died on a cross for you, are you willing to admit and confess to him you are a sinner. If you are then you can be saved today and start your life anew, Just say this simple prayer, Dear Jesus, I just ask you right now to come into my life and save me, I admit and confess that I am a sinner. I believe that you came and died on a cross for my sins, and that you rose from the grave as a perfect sacrifice to cover the sins of all mankind. I do believe you are the Son of God and I ask you to make me one of your children in the Kingdom of Heaven, and be my Lord and Saviour, in Jesus Name Amen, If you Prayed this Prayer with a sincere heart you are now saved, You should feel a burden being lifted off your heart and the days will seem brighter as Christ begins a work in you, find a church, and start reading your Bible, may God Bless YOU!!! If you have any questions please feel free to email me. Mercy and Grace have been applied!!!

Kind of a complex question and depends on which religion you are talking about. Technology has brought us to the brink of returning ourselves to the Stone Age. We now are capable of bashing 1000 skulls with one club. And we still drag millions of women back to the cave. If we are to survive, it will not be technology that saves us but the adoption of the religious commandment to "love one another".

Yah king's with divine right really slowed down social progress. Luckily the Magna Carta and the French Revolution stopped that and people were more free to do as they choose.

We really have advanced technologically in a more secular state, this is true. Do you know that God said that toward the end of days knowledge and information will be increased like nobodys business, people will have a disregard for one another and will care for their fellow man/woman less and less as time marches on.
