Isn't that just an excuse for Christians to say really hateful things without feeling like they're being hateful? Like telling people they're going to burn in hell (something atheists don't believe in) for alleged "sins" like being gay or not believing in God, all the while ignoring their own sins because they prefer to point out other people's sins instead.
If that's love, would you do us a favor and love us a bit less?

There may or may not be a God, a soul, an afterlife. But the religions that assert these ideas as facts make ridiculous claims that could not survive in a rational mind. Do the flaws of Christianty, Islam, etc turn people off to the possibly reasonable search for spirituality?

take took taken
write wrote written
break broke broken
eat ate eaten

We also refer to "cloven-hoofed" animals such as goats.

Does it sound strange to you if I say "My little boy THROVE on a healthy diet"? or "I have THRIVEN since I gave up smoking"?

What exactly does this mean in Mathew?
I didnt understand it quit fully.

I shall give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven;
and whatever you bind on earth [forbid to be done],
shall have been already bound [forbidden to be done] in
heaven; and whatever you loose on earth [permit to be done],
shall have already been loosed in heaven [permitted to be
done].

There was this lady that was very special to me in my life, like a grandma that is. She is now deceased. She always gave me cash gifts in cards for Christamas, birthdays. She even left me an inheritance. The problem is that I still have some of the gifts she gave me from this last two years. I kept them as souvenirs in their cards becuase I feel that I will never receive these types of gifts from anyone again. Do you think I should just let go and put them into a savings account?

There is this old board game, it isn't really a game, but it's like a board with a bunch of letters on it (ABCDEFG...) and a triangle looking block of wood and a 'spirit' moves the block to letters to 'spell out your future'...I can't think of the name of it. It's mentioned in Kit Pearson's book 'Looking at the Moon'....and I think it was banned in certain places for witchcraft or something...Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I want to say it's called an Omji or Obji board or something, but whatever I Google doesn't work...

I just got a private message from some dude on here, someone who calls himself a christian...

Of course, he was unwound and all pissy, whining about my answer to one of his questions...i didn't agree with him, and that got his undies in a bundle, so he wrote this:

"I didn't want you to write me. I don't care what you think. I was basically saying don't answer questions you are clueless on and aren't addressed to you. Especially considering you obviously have no room for God in your life. Like you have something to tell me? And you're not rich at all by any means."

If jesus-myth was real -- do any of you think he would appreciate his followers talking smack to other people this way? I call guys like this "false christians" because they never seem to get the message of their co-called "lord"... is this how jesus-myth wants his followers to talk to others? Is this "spreading the message"???

What do you think is the matter with people like this guy?

In case some of you don't know or have forgotten, the third commandment is "You shall not take the Lord's name in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain."

My question is, why is it such a big deal? I know it's understandable (as to being wrong) if someone were to say "Oh my god, I'm gunna kill that guy!" or "God, I hate that girl."
But what if, for example, you were shocked by a natural disaster or amazed when you or a loved one accomplished something? Is it wrong to "take the Lord's name in vain" anyway?
