i think it is perfectly reasonable to expect not to see lewd acts in a public restroom. there are places for that sort of thing and the bathroom at walmart isnt one of them. at the very least, those who are desperate for this sort of action should be discreet and take it to a motel or somwhere private. in the 1950's this behaviour was understandable since gays were living in fear of persecution. in 2007 however, gay men can (for the most part) do whatever they so desire (well, except adopt children and get married but were working on that as we speak). there is no need to hide in the shadows and have anonymous sex in public places. especially not in the age of aids.

It should be, but if there happen to be some other
pre-teen boys in there at the time who may not have
had parents who taught them manners, or who have
been explosed to graphic sex education in public schools
and decide to give it a try, then they could expect to see
just about anything.
That's why kids need to have this explained at an early age
in a decent manner. We live in a lost, imperfect world.
Preteen boys need to know when to make a 180 and retreat;
whether in a public rest room, the home of a neighbor couple who may be exhibitionists, a camp-out for boys where more
experienced kids teach the others about sex, or at a friend's
house when nobody's home and the teen daughters want to experiment with the little boys.
What people think of as "lewd behavior" is quite common on earth. Therefore kids need to be taught to be "discreet", (a word almost unheard of today). Most kids cannot be raised in a perfect walled off neighborhood with guards on patrol 24-7.
Parents would be a lot calmer if they could "chill" and realize children; especially pre-teen boys, are infinitely tougher than modern "experts" imagine they are.
I had three teenage sons, and they turned out fine. They saw some pretty wild stuff, and would tell me about it. They had been taught that this world is full of deviants, male and female, and if you see stuff like that going on, just make an about-face and scram out of there. Simple enough, because
there's no possible way to stop it, or protect kids from it all the time.

Pre-teen sons and daughters. It seems like lewdness has become exclusive only to the male community. While it is more common to find a publicized account of males, especially gay males, to be acting in a shameful way it is not exclusive to them only. Many straight men and women conduct far actions of perverse nature everyday. I am by no means defending the actions of any gay male just pointing out that it isn't an exclusive problem.

These lewd acts have been occuring for decades and no one was ever aware until George Michael and now this other guy got caught.
If other men were unaffected, what would make your son affected? Unless he is trying to join in, and he happens to wave his tallywacker at a pedophile, I wouldn't worry.
Be sure he pees, washes his hands, and leaves.
I wouldn't suggest going #2, he will be seen if there happens to be a glory hole in the partition. Save your #2 for when you get home.
And what about lewd acts committed by straights? As a gay man, I have been sickened seeing straight couples copulating in parks, and recently, I saw a man performing cunninglus on a woman in a PUBLIC PARKING LOT, not even in the car but next to it. WTF?

of course it's reasonable, as it is a public place and nobody should have to bear wittness to that sort of behaivour. Regardless of gender or sexual orientation, there are laws pertaining to acceptable conduct in a public place. The issue here however has nothing really to do with the lgbt section, so i am unsure as to why it is posted here as i can't possibly imagine someone as educated as yourself to believe that all and only gays are responsible for lewd activities in public.

Ummm yes. There aren't senators soliciting in EVERY public bathroom throughout the country and the world.
Sex is NOT happening everywhere, like some may think - some people actually strive to keep their sexual activities within the confines - gasp! - of their own homes!!

Don't blame me!
Actually, it's the closeted homosexuals--like Senator Craig--who tend to have sex in public bathrooms. And why? Because society (and in particular, the Christian element) has decreed that homosexuality is a horrible, unforgivable sin. What's a gay Republican senator to do? Well, he'll get married, have kids, get re-elected a whole bunch of times, all the while having illicit sex in public places, the only places he can get away with it without fear of being exposed in the media. It's not like he can visit the local gay bar, right?
But then he gets caught. Now, who do we blame? Me, who has a committed relationship with another guy and sets a good example by being faithful to my partner, or the society that freaks out about homosexuality? I say it's the freaker-outers.

o.k. what do u think will happen if u combine females and straight male bathrooms? It would probably be unimaginably disastrous, i cant even tell you! That's why it's pretty logical that some gay men might be more than tempted to have sexual encounters in such places... but it's really not as usual as many may think.

No, that's why you always hear about guys using public restrooms, locker rooms, etc to experiment, and with girls, if you go to a college with at least one all-girl dorm, you know they'll do, having same sex roommates, sleepovers, etc LOL.

IMHO, sexual acts should take place in private - gay or straight. My thinking is that there are some things that are intended to be private, and sexuality is one of them.
