perhaps -- but they'll never match the egos of christian cultists!
"hey, we have all the right answers. my god is the right one, the others are all wrong. you go to hell for not standing over here with me and my group!"
"I have a personal relationship with a god and i know god"
and so on.

No more than in a person who advertises their religious beliefs. My guess is that much like a Christian or Pagan (or anyone else) who has found their path and is happy on it, they want to advertise their accomplishment. Hey, if you find the right path for you, then you should be proud. Just remember that what works for you won't necessarily work for others!

When people get questioned on their beliefs, they tend to answer strongly. Therefore, you think that it is ego, but it could merely just be passion. This goes for any belief.
If I believe Led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever, I am going to defend them to the hilt and spew my opinions about it because I have the passion for the group. Same as with religious beliefs or anything else.

The laying off of the Ego comes with the realisation that we are yet flesh and sinew, mere mortals amidst thousands and thousands of others equivalent if no greater effective than the I. Our fallibility, mortality, and vulnerability. The Ego is self wisdom, while one advantageous properties God wisdom one perceives the worldwide with Gods attitude. The humility comes with the helplessness in being unable to alleviate the worldwide of its conflict and suffering. in the employer of the solid one is humbled, amidst conceited and conceited we are reminded of our generosity of heart, and wealth of wisdom and being waiting to afforded the luxurious of modest exuberance in our dispensations. Then reconciliation with our mortal life. And the ego is located in the limitations of the self. yet another inspiring question from an incredible fact seeker. God Bless.

Agnostics know that they don't know. Agnostics proclaim no certain knowledge of absolute truth or special connect to a specific invisible super being. i think that's pretty humble compared to Theists who claim they know what "God" wants, what "God" likes and dislikes, how "God" thinks and that "God" has slated them to receive rewards for having been born into or for having chosen the correct religion.

And there's no ego at all involved in holier-than-thou types who proclaim they are 'saved' and look down upon those who reject the concept.

agnostics are quite proud of their humility, i suppose. to me, agnosticism is just appeasement. there is no question that religion is simply failed science.
