Missy, don't try to change her mind. Love the Lord more than anybody and anything else!

See what HE says about your circumstances:

Mat 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Mat 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Pray for your mother. God can change her but you cannot!

God bless you child of HIS!

First of all, "losing your church" is not "losing your faith." The very definition of "faith" is that it comes from inside and is unshakable.

Second; Assuming your are an American citizen, once you are old enough to live on your own, you are free to choose any religion you want and go to any church you want. Even those of us who do not believe in religion at all, DO know that religious freedom is necessary. You can take heart that when you are of legal age to take care of yourself, you have the freedom to choose.

In the meantime...
Not attending church is not bad. When you think about it, you can never get the truth about religion from the people who sell religion, in the same way you seldom get the whole truth from any salesman. Russians did not easily get the truth about foreign countries while they were trapped in Communist Russia. Even today, despite modern communication, Americans do not get the whole truth about the rest of the world. SO, if it your desire to live in truth, you must be brave enough to look beyond the safe confines of a single church.

You are far more likely to find truth by searching yourself. Read about all religions. Learn what they have in common and where they came from.

But don't assume that all the truth in the universe fits neatly into one book. That idea is absurd.

If there is a single faith that is totally true and good, the only way you can find it is by examining all of them. Blindly accepting a single version of religion is as ridiculous as having only one very biased witness in a court case.

You have to include contrary opinions and rational inquiry into your search, or any faith you find will be false. If your faith is so strong that it stands up to the facts, then it is real faith.

Therefore, you will never know if your faith is real unless you examine it thoroughly. Those who hide in the church where there is no challenge to its doctrines can never truly claim to have faith.

So you can look at this at least two ways:

One; this is a test of your faith sent to you by a benevolent creator. You must see if it withstands disassociation from the church and those people who blindly support the doctrines of that particular faith. If you believe the tale of Job, you will understand how nice god is to his faithful. By comparison, your test is very easy indeed.

Two; You may be very lucky because your mom has your best interests in mind. She may be right. You can rest assured that your mother means well, so no matter what, no good God would harm her for her actions. Further, if you buy the idea that this is just a test, then you mother and her decisions are directed by the unseen hand of god. You should have faith that he is ultimately doing the right thing for you.

Either way you look at it it, you have nothing to worry about. You might gain a greater understanding and therefore a deeper faith, if that is what you seek.

You might gain something even better...

Being a Christian can be a solitary practice and you don't need your mom's permission for that, dear. What you do need is your faith. If you truly believe, pray, follow what you know to be right, treat others as God would have you treat them, and make your decisions about going to church as soon as you are old enough. God works in mysterious ways. Sometimes what seems to be a curse is a blessing. Try to see His blessing in this - I know it must be there.

My mom didn't want me to be atheist but she also didn't want me to be Mormon. Well I was atheist and I hid that, then I started going to church with a friend and meeting with the missionaries.
They taught of bringing honor to your parents, as in you do the right thing (like being baptised) even if they may be against it. I was 18 when I was baptised though.
You can pray for Heavenly Father to soften your mother's heart. I never thought my mom would convert but she did and she is so much happier now.
Pray, read and study the scriptures. If you have to, go in the bathroom to pray. If you have to, go to the library or somewhere to read and study.

Don't try to change her mind. You only need to be concerned about yourself. You can get on-line and learn. They have bibles on line. I think there are many Christian sites you can explore. You don't have to disobey your mom. When you are old enough to move out, you can go to church. Until then study your faith and learn all you can.

Being a christian isnt a loss no, but not being a christian isnt either. Ive been a spiritual person all my life and, i can tell you a thing or two about christianity and not about it, but in the end it really DOESNT MATTER. God doesnt require you to do anything because you are a part of god and god is a part of you. Trust me, take some mad hallucinogens and go see :P

I guess you do what you believe is ultimately right. There may be some sacrifice involved (you could get penalized by Mom), but I say stick to your belief if you are convinced.

Otherwise, try to openly listen to mom's point of view. Re-weigh both sides, and reach a verdict.

you had better obey your parents
Deut 21:18-21
18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious child who will not obey their father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline them,
19 then their father and their mother shall take hold of them and bring them out to the elders of the town at the gate of that place.
20 They shall say to the elders of the town, ‘This child of ours is stubborn and rebellious. they will not obey us. they are a glutton and a drunkard.’
21 Then all the men of the town shall stone them to death. So you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel will hear, and be afraid.

Proverbs 23: 13
13 Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat them with a rod, they will not die.

keep it within. your Mom salvation is not through you. Keep the faith, God is in your heart, not a church building anyway.

Remember, where two or more are gathered in His name, He will be present.

When a friend comes over, fellowship. You have here, so... Peace of the Lord be with you.

To change the mind of your Mom is pray the Rosary everyday for her conversion. And through the great mercy and unlimited grace of the Sacred heart of Jesus and the Immaculate heart of Mary, your mom will be converted to the Christian faith. Meantime, your mom is deceived by satan who is the ruler of this world. THANK GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD
