Wow so many things wrong with that question
um yeah - because so many so called believers go to church, read the bible or participate in religious activities
Being an atheist means lacking a belief in any and all gods. How could you genuinely have believed this is if it was just a case of not wanting to get up early on a Sunday
and no - I just realised the idea of a god existing was a bit ridiculous, much like the idea of the tooth fairy still existing
I still had to go church, I went to Scripture Union and Girls Brigade.
Once I stopped I did other more interesting and worthwhile things with my time
If anything being a theist is laziness because you're just refusing to think for yourself.
And I guess you're hoping your god has a lenient policy on telling lies.

Not me! If I was that intellectually lazy, I wouldn't have become an atheist in the first place. I'd still be going along with my parents' religion.
Trust me, I have NOT been lazy in the religion department. Besides, this alleged kid's argument doesn't make any sense. You can just as well be theistic and not participate in those things. The word atheism does not mean "without religion". It means "no belief in deity".

Gee, whatever else I am, I am sure as shoot not lazy. I am one of the busiest actors in New York and LA. And though an unbeliever and humanist from hair to heel, I often go to different church services and I read the KJV and at this very moment, Al-Cor'an in English translation. The kid you know wants more than religious belief in his life.

Those sorts of people do exist, yes. And some of them call themselves atheists. I don't agree with that term, however. I consider them to be "without religion".
Whether you are a believer or an atheist, if you make either decision out of laziness, you have little currency to spend in any debate on the subject.
You will find, however, that the majority of the "lazy" people (IE: people that don't study the subject) are in fact... believers.

You can be an atheist just sitting around watching dust motes float by ... or you can be an atheists running a triathalon. I fail to see what physical activity, or the lack of it, has to do with believing ... or NOT.

I was a christian, and then I went to college and took some classes on philosophy of christian thought. There were too many what ifs for me to ignore. After much research and thought, I realized that it was just a nice story.

that's how i started with atheism. apathy. that and i disagreed with some of the rules in the bible, because they seemed foolish. but then i got more into studying religion and later just decided from the evidence that i found that god doesn't exist. that's just me though...

That's very interesting actually. I find that religious people just blindly follow something because that's what they are taught. So if you just believe what you are told, I find that lazy.

Geez. That's really rather sad. I wonder if he thinks much about much of anything...
The atheists I know became so because of the exact opposite: They studied religion and philosophy looking for answers, they didn't just blindly give up on it.
