The 2000's suck. I'd rather live in the '40s and '50s.

2000's:
Terrorism, Street Gangs, Computers, High Gas Prices, music is crap, Reality Shows take over TV, etc

1940's:
1946 , The end of WW2
1941, Pearl Harbor
Things were a lot cheaper
Smoking was good for us

1950's:
Greasers (The DA Hair Cut, Brylcreem, leather jackets, Levi's)
Rock and Pop music
Diners
Hot Rods
James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Marlon Brado
TV is born
Teenagers only smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol 9no other drugs)
Street gangs were different
Racism in the south
The Civil Rights Movement
Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars

1960's (A time of change)
Vietnam War, Assassinations, Hippies & Drugs, Beatniks, Riots & Protests, Woodstock, The Beatles, Birth of the Ford Mustang.

1970's:
Bell Bottom jeans, long sideburns, disco music, end of the Vietnam War

Why should we trust a creationist presidential candidate?

In a recent presidential debate, 3 GOP prospective presidential candidates said that they do not believe in evolution.

With this self professed eschewing of overwhelming scientific evidence, how are we, as a people, supposed to trust this person to read, analyze and act upon complex geopolitical and national security briefings?

If he cannot grasp something as simple as the planet being more than 6,000 years old, can we trust him with the nuclear football?

The word Halloween is a contraction for All Hallows Eve, which is the vigil of All Saints and All Souls Days. As such, Halloween is actually a Christian holiday. As with many Christian holidays, the secular world has attached its own traditions to the day (costumes, trick-or-treating, parties) that are problematic when the religious meaning of the holiday is set aside or forgotten.
Celebrated in the right way, Halloween can be a reminder of human mortality and the need for Christians to prepare themselves to face God. Good festivities attached to the holiday can prepare Christians for All Saints and All Souls Days and for the month of November, which the Church traditionally has set aside for remembrance of the souls in purgatory.
Celebrated in the wrong way, Halloween festivities also can distract from the meaning of the holiday. Christians have options for celebrating the holiday in Christian spirit and should choose what works best for helping their families learn the true meaning

My boyfriend doesn't mind it but his mom is pretty much against everyone that isn't a christian. She put down one of our friends because she told her she was an athiest.
She never asked me, so i never told her that I wasn't one, and i've been going to church with them just so i get to spend time with my boy.
Then she bought me a bible for my birthday and its starting to get annoying, she preaches stuff like she's God's perfect child. And from what i hear, she's not.
Anyway, how do i help her realize that i'm not a christian? (i'm agnostic by the way)
and do you think she won't let him invite me to church anymore if she knew?

If you have sinned, why only persecute some people because they were born homosexual. If you quote the Bible, than also please include sins in the Bible that you have committed.

Preterism is the study of fulfilled eschatology. If you have questions as a Christian, but the usual answers just don't match up to what the scriptures read, then you need to seek and the Lord said you will find. I would like to hook up with those who believe all has been fulfilled that Jesus said was at hand, in a little while and some of you will be standing here, and many more verses, that just needs to be understood. Won't you help me find someone I can fellowship with who believes my views. There are many out there, I just haven't met them in my area. So, please contact me and lets get aquainted.

The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology???? Basically, it's a futurist book about how we humans will modify ourselves technologically. Scientists are currently trying to integrate the human mind with computers. They say that this should be possible within 20 or 30 years. This would give us unlimited memory capacity. It might be one day possible to download information from your brain so that no human would ever have to go to school again. They also talked about how advancements in genetics and robotics could allow us to modify the human body to survive in harsher environments. Assuming we humans don't destroy ourselves, I think that this is where humans will inevitably end up. What do you think???

I was raised Christian, but once I was old enough to examine it, I read the bible, and found nothing but hate, hypocrisies, and things I could not bring myself to believe. Going to church was awful. No matter how hard I tried to believe (because I thought I had to), Christianity always felt wrong.

Now, I am studying Buddhism. I am attending seminars at the Zen center downtown, reading anything I can get my hands on, and have started practicing zazen. Everything feels like it's falling into place. I read something and think "Hey, that's what I've always thought!" Doing zazen, I feel whole.

If Christianity is the right religion for everyone, as some people claim, why does it feel so wrong to me, while Buddhism feels so right?
