It is science fiction, certainly, but it mirrors what is being researched in laboratories and think tanks even now. The idea that humans and computers will eventually be linked in some way is an old one in sci fi. Some say it will be by implanting something electronic in the brain (a UPC or the future development of such), some go the other way and say computers will become biological in nature. In that case, I suppose you'd snort it or take it as a pill. Nanotechnology is the generic term for making hardware small enough to put just about anywhere, and they are doing it, my friends, yes they are.
Personally, I have no objection to it. But I wonder how difficult it will be to adjust emotionally to these differences. My Steve committed suicide in part because he had an incredible mind, which mostly made him unhappy. He could always tell when someone was lying to him. He was able to perceive the duplicity of many people and the naivete of most people, the manipulations carried on by political and religious leaders, the corruption of the mass media, and so on.

I've read part of it, but have read a lot of transhumanist related information. We are going to change, quite drastically but I don't know of the extent as far as mind uploading goes, I see that as a bit more difficult than futurists do. It is hard to deny that technology only advances and at one point we will have enhancements added to our lives.. Already we have "cyborgs", it is only a matter of time until it becomes a lot more drastic. People like to live only for today, they bat a blind eye that things do change, and 30 years from now things will be as different or more-so different than how things were 30 years ago. The truth of the matter is, technology advances exponentially therefore 30 years in the future should be quite different.

I think that is why this world is about to come to it's end, because God is sick and tired of scientist corrupting His creations. However something to it's sort will be and most likely is already being made, but it's not so much a computer that will be put in the brain; it's an implant that will be put in the forehead or hand, and it will be required by law. You will not be able to buy or sell anything without the implant and if you are caught by the law and don't have it, you will be required to get it or die. It is the mark of the beast, the sign of the anti-Christ, there will also be many who claim to be Christians that will also be deceived into taking this mark.

How would we know if what we are downloading is truth? Man is not all knowing right. It would be safe to say we know not even 1% of anything. If a memory is downloaded we have lost the actual act of learning it the way we should through experience. Universally we will all know the same thing but the problem arises we have not learned it though experience. So in turn it is only truth as far as we know it universally. It is not actually truth as truth is. it would not make us better only weaker. Man should trust what we have been given and not what we design. The design of GOd is truth not our selves, If I was told to do such a thing I would say NEVER.
An interesting thought though, but I'll stick with my highly advanced brain given to me by GOd.

That would be dangerous, there's a reason why humans aren't intelligent. Could you imagine the world if people were suddenly confident and used it against each other.

Maybe 20-30 years from now I'll change my mind, but right now, being a cyborg doesn't seem appealing.

If we don't destroy ourselves first, and if religious fanatics don't gain control and recreate the dark arges, a technological singularity is inevitable and unstoppable.
