Section One of the Catechism Of The Catholic Church says this:

"God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life."

The Bible is true! I've discovered that the stories of the Bible are actually true! I made this astonishing discovery because in the Bible it says that the Bible must be true!

Any thoughts on this? Or should I ask the "What if?" machine what would happen if this last statement were proven false?

The "New Testament": Pagan revenge

Between G-d's own miracles and the Jewish teaching of His Word, the pagan priesthoods of Egypt, Greece, and Rome were steadily losing their power over the gentile populations. They decided to fight back by creating a new religion, one that would claim to be the fulfillment of the Hebrew "Old Testament," yet would bring back the pagan lies in a new disguise.

Thus the "New Testament" was written, in Greek rather than Hebrew, and attached to the original Hebrew scriptures to try to change their meaning back toward paganism.

The "New Testament" tried to change G-d from One, as in the Hebrew scriptures, into a "trinity" as in Egyptian cults or the eastern religions of Hinduism and Buddhism. It described Jesus as G-d in a human body, like the pagans always described Pharoah and other wicked kings. It declared G-d's Law to be a "curse" that no one can truly obey, announced that there must be a "mediator" between G-d and man, and pretended that salvation could now be achieved outside the Law.

To blind the gentile nations, the "New Testament" also warned people not to learn from the Jews, declaring that Israel no longer possessed the true, complete Word of G-d.

In the Bible, the book of Daniel warned of an evil power--a false religion--that would believe in the true "G-d of fortresses... plus a god its fathers did not know." This religion would "speak bizarre words about the Most High, wear out the holy ones (the Jews), and plan to change the festivals and the religious Law."7 The Christian Church has indeed replaced Passover with Easter (the pagan holiday of Astarte and Ishtar) and Hanukah with Christmas (the pagan winter holiday).

Since then, Christian paganism has expanded to include Christmas trees, Easter eggs, and so forth.

I never thought I would do something like this, but all the pressure put on white girls these days. Anyhow, he won't work and I always have to give him money. He says he would quit wearing baggy pants, but he hasn't. When I'm at work he's riding around with other girls and I think he uses drugs. He has threatened I can't leave. I know another girl he hurt in the same situation. I'm telling you white girls don't ever get involved with them because you'll regret it. Should I go to the police if he threatens me?

Have you tried to convince yourself that something is true, that you know (or strongly suspect) is not?

Maybe you thought it would be beneficial to yourself or others, or you would fit in better if you did. Maybe you just wanted to see what it is like to believe as someone else does.

Do you think you could do it? Have you ever done it? Would you be afraid that if you did convince yourself that there would be no going back? Is it easy to "decide" to believe something, then change your mind?

Hi I'm not attacking idolitry, thats fine with me, just the lying to yourselves about idolitry being a sin and then doing it.

If you have a cross or an image of jesus then it is an idol. Don't pretend that it isn't. Even the bible is an idol...if not then go and burn one.

Idolatry is a major sin in the Abrahamic religions regarding image. It is usually defined as worship of an image, idea or object, as opposed to the worship of a God.
This is how the dictionary defines it;
Idol:
An image used as an object of worship.

Worship:
The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object.

And don't say it's just the idea of christ that you are worshipping, because if it's a statue in a sacred building or round your neck or in your house of a sacred person or symbol, then it's an idol.

It seems to me anyone questioning a belief to the slightest degree is automatically a basher. It seems some believers just cannot HANDLE an opposing view?

I'm trying to reconcile two facts. 1) Jesus started a single organization, with a leader, Peter, and bishops, the apostles, for whom he prayed "for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you." 2) There are presently about 38,000 Christian denominations (http://christianity.about.com/od/denominations/p/christiantoday.htm).

Please don't hate me for asking this and I mean no offense to anyone. I am just a straight guy trying to understand. I do not see what Larry Craig is accused of as a crime. I hear no voices from the gay community commenting on this nationally exposed event. My question is what is wrong in "hitting on" a guy for sex? I can see that having sex in a public restroom is not approprate, but there is no evidence to support that this was his intent. To me it seems as if he was trying to pick up a guy for sex. I can "hit on" someone at the grocery store, the local park, even at church and it is not a crime, so my question is why is it against the law to approach someone in the restroom? I personally would not like to be "hit on" in the restroom but I think it would not be a crime. I would not like to be hit on in the grocery store, park, or church either, but it seems it should not be a crime just to hit someone up for sex in this context. Please share your thoughts or ideas on this.

None of us really want to see liberals cast into the eternal lake of fire and brimstones. We want all folks to follow Jesus to heaven. How can we convert non-believers before it's too late?

One idea is to improve our public school system. If we required schools to devote 1 hour each day, to biblical studies and prayer, then we'd be a lot better off. Anyone else got any suggestions?

Serious answers only please. Thanks!

Prayer for Fall
Mother of Creation, thank-you for your bounty. All around the earth has grown to maturity. So too, I pray, may I see the signs of my own maturity. Help me to recognize the progress in my spirit, to see the fruits of character and insight that have developed since spring. Let me me hold these gifts close to my heart as sacred and special.
As I move into fall, teach me balance. Let me know the wonders of both sounds and silences, rest and action, the temporal and spiritual. As i walk the Path of Beauty, keep my eyes on the horizon, but my feet grounded in truth. So Be it
