The artist must have thought he even slightly resembled him other wise he wouldn't have morphed the two

Hell, with halfway decent graphics software you can morph anything into anything else. There's a vague resemblance between the two, but I don't think Jesus ever said, "Dirka dirka Muhammad jihad."

I don't find the artist's work clever or especially meaningful.

We don't know if Osama looks like Jesus because we don't know what Jesus looked like, except that there was nothing remarkable about his looks.

As for the paintings, the artist was probably trying to make some kind of statement, either elevating the status of Osama, saying he is a good man like Jesus, or suggesting that Jesus is a bad man like Osama or maybe he is saying Jesus is a terrorist, or that just as Osama is demonised and persecuted, so was Jesus. Who knows what it means, its postmodern art.

What i find most interesting in the article is the way politicians are trying to get the religious vote. That says more about the state of Australia than the painting does.

I just noticed the title: "Bearded orientals, making the empire cross". So it is probably some kind of anti-imperialist statement. Jesus made the Roman empire cross, and Osama made the American empire cross, and by John Howard getting cross at it, it shows that he is part of those empires.

first of all, Jesus looked nothing like what he represented by the typical picture of blue eyes and long hair. (including the one shown)

second of all, considering the region Bin Laden originates from, you would assume that he would have some similar physical traits to Jesus.

Just as if Jesus would have been American
he would have had common American features, or Chinese feature is he would've been Chinese...

That said, I think that character wise, they had nothing in common. Bin Laden represents terrorism and death and Jesus represents peace and everlasting life.

I myself am not offended, but i do think it's a silly comparison and the artist was just craving for attention.

Its kind of funny that alot of people answered this question without looking at your picture. I heard about this yesterday. I think the artist may have a good point, but it looks like his message is being lost on people. Oh well. What are you going to do?

Good Luck!!!

No he doesn't. Just because he has long hair and beard doesn't mean he looks like Jesus.. Besides the pic of Jesus as we know it is just interpretation of what ppl think he would have looked like.. no one truly knows what he looked like.

That's retarded. One could 'morph' anyone into anyone else, esp. with today's techniques and technology.
